to stop the insane Obama Administration’s new mission to bomb Syria. With blog after blog, post after post, protest after protest, calls to our ‘representatives'(and I use that word loosely), refuting the propaganda that is being shoved down the throats of Americans and people the world over to try and ‘justify’ bombing the hell out of Syria.
There is NO justification! Syria has NOT declared war on the U.S. Our moral obligation is not to bomb Syria to save Syria from itself. Our moral obligation is to collaborate with the U.N. along with the international community to come up with diplomatic solutions. We are not humanitarians if we bomb Syria. We are warmongers.
The U.S. government has used the argument that the use of chemical weapons is not to be tolerated. Well, if that is the case, then the U.S. government needs to commence judicial hearings and try itself for war crimes against humanity and for lying and cover-ups in the use of chemical weapons by the U.S. government not only on its own citizens but also for the use of chemical weapons in Vietnam, and also in Iraq. We need new government anyway. One that is FOR the People, BY the people and OF the people. The one we have isn’t cutting it. Need more proof?

So after reading from the above list, do you really believe that the U.S. is going to bomb the hell out of Syria because of chemical weapons? We don’t give a damn about anyone using chemical weapons. If we did, we wouldn’t use them!!!! But we do, so how then can we turn around and bomb another country for doing exactly what we are doing, have done and will continue to do? Why is the U.S. government’s use of chemical weapons, acceptable, but if another country uses them, we become all mushy and outraged and so then we’ve got to galvanize the world to stop this atrocity when in fact, if chemical weapons were used in Syria, we most likely provided them? There is not one single reason for the U.S. military to be engaged in war on Syria. Not one. To simply say that Assad is bad is not enough. Barack Obama is bad, but no one is overthrowing him by way of military action. Our entire congress is bad, but no one is going to bomb the hell out of them. Obama is intent on striking Syria because that is what his handlers have told him to do. He is bought and paid for. He owes them his place in the White House and in history. His oratory skills will not be enough to convince those of us who know that it is not in America’s best interest to bomb Syria, nor is it in the best interest of the Syrian people. He knows it. John Kerry knows it and our congressional representatives know it. And through our blogs, our tweets, our Facebook pages, our protests; the whole world knows it. Will our representatives vote to strike Syria? Highly likely. Will the U.S. people merely sit back and watch this unfold and turn into another Iraq/Afghanistan? We’ll soon see.

If I may paraphrase, it looks as if other nations’ sins always shock us, while our own seem perfectly natural. Or something.
We need some new words … for behavior that’s beneath contempt and beyond hypocrisy. Would depravity cover it? Think I’ll skip the speeches too. I’m afraid I’ve already seen this movie, and it stunk the first time. And the next. And so on.

….and if you can find a word that is more ‘depraved’ than ‘depraved’ to cover what this government is, I’d like to know it. Calling them hypocritical, lying, deceitful, disgusting, immoral, filthy, inhuman cowards just doesn’t quite cover it all.
Also, you are correct when you state about how we re-act to the sins of other nations, while giving our own, a free pass. Well, it doesn’t get one from me. Never has and never will. People like to bury their head in the sand and pretend that we are a morally ‘just’ nation and that we couldn’t possibly do any harm to others in other nations. They can believe this because when the fighting is not in their own yard, is literally removed from them, they don’t really have to think about it. If they choose to tune it out, not look at the pictures that come out of the war torn lands that we have destroyed, then they will do just that. They don’t feel the impact. Also, it is always easy to point fingers at what others do and turn away when we have all the bright, shiny gadgets in the world to take our attention away from what’s really going on. We prefer to remain in ignorance and we prefer to remain clueless. There are those who live by, “it is better not to know.” I am not among them, I am glad to say.

Good words. You and your readers may want to keep an eye out for Ray McGovern (retired CIA) who was on Al Jazeera News in the last hour. He and 11 other retired military, intelligence men and women collaborated on a letter in the last week pointing out the defects in evidence “proving” Assad was responsible for the attacks of August 21. I was frankly astonished that he was given airtime. Make note to check for video clips of McGovern / Al Jazeera / September 8 on YouTube and post as soon as possible. I have a feeling Mr. McGovern is going to be world famous very soon.

I did read your post about Ray McGovern and the other generals, so I must thank you for your strong and sincere efforts to do everything you can to spread the word of ‘peace’ and not war. You have been tireless, my friend and for all of our sake, I hope that our efforts are not in vain. My hat is off to you as you are truly a stalwart figure in advocating against war and FOR peace and diplomacy.

Your article was well written. I see absolutely no justification for even a limited, unbelievably limited strike on Syria, as Sec. Kerry is saying today in a last effort of desperation. We are not the world police. We do not have a moral obligation to take any action such as that proposed by the Obama Administration.

Claire, isn’t that the truth! We’re not trying to stomp a mud hole in China over their ‘human rights’ abuses. We’re not trying to stomp a mud hole in Russia over their resistance to gay rights, among other issues. We’re not trying to stomp a mud hole in Israel for the way they have and are treating the Palestinian people.
We have so many horrific abuses being perpetrated on innocent people every single day in this country, it just boggles the mind that we can focus on another country when we have homeless tent cities. The U.S. government has bankrupted this country with endless wars to the point where austerity measures have been put in play. Program cut after program cut to the most needy and vulnerable in our society and yet, we’ve got the funds to start a war when not one missile has been launched by another country aimed at US? This is just beyond the end of enough!!
I’m trying to stay strong! I must say, anger will do it and I am angrier than disturbed hornets in a nest!

The Horton Journal, thank you for your kind comment! What we have both stated is SO very true. What I would like to know is why has there been no question(at least I can’t find a video or an article)asking how can the U.S. condemn another country for using chemical weapons when we, ourselves have used them and are dropping drones on people and innocent civilians are getting caught up in the strikes? If someone has heard or seen a video of a MSM reporter asking this question, please let me know. Because those of us who are blogging non-stop seem to be the ones who are bringing these types of questions up. I know goodness goddamn well that there are MSM reporters who know the history of our government and what we have done to our own and those in other countries as far as the use of chemical weapons is concerned. I am sick to pieces of them trying to hide our dirty shit while we condemn others for doing the same damn thing we’ve done over and over again but, then we want to turn around and bomb the hell out of another country for doing it, especially when it makes no sense for Assad to have used the chemical weapons. We’ve been arming rebels for ages. We’ve armed the rebels in Syria and they are capable of heinous crimes the same as those who have armed them. I put NOTHING past the U.S. government and I’ve told my so-called ‘congressional representatives’ just that and in no uncertain terms!
