Look Up From Your Phone!

images7HVFMFYN

If you ever look up from your phone,
there’s a world of beauty to see.
It’s not found on a screen of apps,
just look up at the leaves on a tree.

You say life is always passing you by.
Where the years have gone, you don’t know.
Have you ever stopped to consider,
that it’s because you are missing the show?

  1. When I go hiking I leave all devices at home because there is so much to see. But when I’m at home I rarely look up because there’s not much to see. People who are full of imagined lives running around with no place to go or be. Yeah, nothing much to see.

    • HLJ, that is why I try to post poems that will remind us all that there is indeed beauty amidst all of the hate, corruption, hypocrisy, bombing, texting, this phone, that phone, this app, that app, this show, that movie. And many times, we are so filled with distractions that we don’t even see that we are losing out on what maybe able to ‘save’ us from ourselves; the outdoors, communing with nature even if a person just sits outside and looks around with wonder and letting go of the ‘rat race’ that will always be there, beckoning them.

Thanks for taking the time to comment HLJ, It’s much appreciated.

    • You are SO right Dom! Being connected ALL the time is not good for us and many of us just cannot see that. I often find myself wandering out of doors just to get grounded and try and loosen my tight muscles and to shake off the never ending mess that is constantly thrown at us. Yes, there is so much ugliness in this world but if we look(and it’s not hard to find) there is much beauty in it also.

Thank you so much for your comment. It was right on time!

  2. LOL! Don’t even try it Richard, your poetry is phenomenal. Have you been Freshly Pressed, because if you haven’t then there is something really wrong with the Freshly Pressed crew and I’ve told them so in no uncertain terms?
