I am going to take a break,
because I’ve had all that I can take.
How many times I have heard the cries,
and I’ve listened to untold lies,
of why America is going to war,
when it’s always the same as before.

We never wake up and see,
nor do we care that we ain’t free.
We torture those we blame,
and we kill like it’s just a game.

When have we ever paid the price,
in this here fool’s paradise?
We’re all so apathetic and complacent,
unless it’s for an Apple iPhone replacement.

Who can lay claim to have a heart?
You don’t even know where to start!
And if one came down the pike,
you’d tell it to take a hike.
There are none on earth like US.
We’re an infection that is draining pus.

The world lives in mortal fear,
hoping that we will disappear,
into a void that will put an end,
to an enemy that can be no friend.

I am an advocate for the poverty stricken, homeless, hungry, voiceless people who are considered to be the 'unwashed' masses but whom I consider to be the unsung heroes for surviving a never ending battle waged against them in the form of poverty wages, no benefits, living paycheck to paycheck, needing medical coverage while employed, trying to feed their families on stagnant wages that have not kept pace with inflated prices. And so the battle continues.....

  3. Shelby, We’ll miss you, but take care of yourself — hibernate all winter if need be — and come roaring back when you can! Wish we could get the world all straightened out by then, but I’m sure there will still be good work to do. – Linda

  5. Well that is a very wise thing to do Shelby. Tubularsock will miss your fury and your powerful fire. Sad, Tubularsock will have to hang up his new asbestos suit he has to wear when he reads your work. Tubularsock looks rather dapper in it too. Oh well, for another day. And damn I just got a new one at the sales on black thanksgiving too.

    But when you are tired ….. rest.

    Tubularsock will continue to rage against the machine because he likes mechanical things. They have so many parts!
