I have never seen a rainbow
nor have I ever smelled a rose.
My home was bombed so many times;
dust clouds my eyes and nose.

I have never held a puppy
nor have I ever played jump rope.
But I have dived for cover many times
and prayed and held onto hope.

I have hoped and prayed for peace
but war is all I’ve ever known.
I have cried so many times
since my father and mother are gone.

You, who are in the West!
Have you ever thought about me?
Do you know that I am human?
And that you made me a refugee?

When next you play with your children
and you bring them home a toy,
remember, I’ve never had a teddy bear
because I am not your little boy.

I know that these are only words
and that you can’t see my tears.
But I think that you should know
you’ve laid waste to my best years.

Written for all the little children of Iraq who have had their lives torn asunder thanks in part to bombs and drones and CIA trained insurgents that I paid for through my tax dollars. These children have been turned into orphaned refugees with nowhere to turn and yet, we here in America are having no problem shopping for teddy bears and puppies and other toys for our children. We can look up at the sky after a good cleansing rain and see a rainbow, but is that what the orphaned children of Iraq see? Do they have puppies and teddy bears to play with? And now Obama has signed for more U.S. soldiers to head over to Iraq since, according to him, he has no idea what to do about the shit that America got started over in Iraq. But are those of us in America paying for our victim-filled crime? Only with our tax dollars and still off to the mall, we go! We’ve got some teddy bears to buy!

I am an advocate for the poverty stricken, homeless, hungry, voiceless people who are considered to be the 'unwashed' masses but whom I consider to be the unsung heroes for surviving a never ending battle waged against them in the form of poverty wages, no benefits, living paycheck to paycheck, needing medical coverage while employed, trying to feed their families on stagnant wages that have not kept pace with inflated prices. And so the battle continues.....

      1. Sometimes we don’t see the impact we have on others. I asure you that your words are touching others. Some people you will make feel, not so all alone. Others, we hope, will think “My Good God, is that what we are doing to people?” Both are beneficial.

    There is just so much disconnect from what we are doing …… it’s so open yet so looked over by our fellow citizens. The information is overwhelming but it seems to be lost in the mix. No wonder this society drink and drug ourselves to death!

I may not be the New York Times or The Washington Post, but I’ll take what I can get and if I can get one zombified, stupid American to realize what a shitty piece of work they are, well then, I’ve done a good day’s work!

  6. Revolution in global consciousness is unfolding, starts with the $$$ collapse. Boycott corporate America, support fair trade merchants and local organic farmers. Form connections within our communities to buffer the collapse. Do not rely on gov’t, po-po, or any official. Look it up, there’s already self sufficient communities around the world. New Hampshire is spearheading this movement with smaller gov’t and zero taxes. It’s gonna take all of us – at the grassroots level.

May the ripple effect spread until it engulfs every community in every single state. I know! I know! I want it all now, but at least someone, somewhere is making a start and that is all that I can ask for. Again, thank you!

  7. Children are always the most victimized under monopoly capitalism – they don’t vote and for the most part they don’t have economic power. This is one reason women’s rights are so important in the Middle East. It’s the mother’s role to advocate for children, and this is more difficult where women are powerless.

    1. Aren’t they though, Dr. Bramhall? And they are so innocent and to have to go through such horrors that are put upon them by the fucked up shenanigans of this government is beyond the end of enough! And as you state, to have their mothers reduced to that of being subservient vassals with no rights to speak of just compounds the problem.

      There has just got to be some sort of middle ground. What we have going on here in the West is ludicrous and downright disgusting; we have women who flaunt themselves in every demeaning way possible. They present themselves as objects to be ogled on porn sites. We have the likes of Kim Kardashian balancing champagne flutes on her ass and Miley Cyrus ‘twerking’ and Lindsay Lohan running in and out of jail and rehab. Then on the other hand, we have the women in the Middle East with hardly any freedoms at all. There seems to be no way for a ‘happy medium’ to be found. I declare, sometimes, I just have to shake my head over it all!
