Black Lives Don’t Even Matter To Blacks!

Bernie Sanders leaves Seattle stage after event disrupted by Black Lives Matter protestersSanders was the final speaker on a long program held at a city park. Shortly after he took stage, a small group of protesters from a Seattle chapter of Black Lives Matter took the microphone and demanded that the crowd hold Sanders “accountable” for not doing enough, in their view, to address police brutality and other issues on the group’s agenda.

After sharing a few local grievances with the crowd, including school disparities and gentrification in Seattle, the protesters asked for a period of silence to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Michael Brown being shot and killed during a confrontation with a police officer in Ferguson, Mo.

I will believe in the legitimacy of the #BLACKLIVESMATTER ‘movement’ when I see concrete evidence that according to the group, Black lives really do matter, but to-date, I have seen no evidence of that.

Disrupting Bernie Sanders as he speaks at an event in Seattle is not going to prove that this group really believes that Black lives do indeed, matter. Au contraire! When the group, instead of disrupting political events,  begins to focus on SOLUTIONS to the problems that plague Black lives in America, then and only then will I take the group seriously and again, as of yet, I see nothing to make me take this group seriously. Au contraire!

When #BLACKLIVESMATTER begins to hold Blacks accountable for the $1.1 trillion dollars that flows through our hands each and every year straight to the whites, Koreans, Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, etc., and to hold Blacks accountable for instead of pooling our money together to build and open our own grocery stores, banks, medical institutions and start other businesses that are Black-owned, Black supported and that lift up Black communities, we take that money and AGAIN, give it to the whites, the Koreans, the Chinese and every other group and then we wonder why we need Section 8 vouchers, I will start taking the #BLACKLIVESMATTER group, seriously. We wonder why we need food stamps. We wonder why we need Medicaid. We wonder why we need someone to wipe our nose for us. If we didn’t take our money and run right out and buy that new pair of Timberland boots, run out and buy the latest Nikes to come down the pike, run right out and buy designer label after designer label, run right to the Chinese Carryout, run to the Korean liquor store, run to the Korean nail and hair salon, and instead invest our dollars in building up our own communities as in starting food co-ops, housing co-ops, credit unions and the like, we would have something. We would not need to show our ass to get attention from those that we insist should do our fighting for us. We have got to fight for ourselves. It should be crystal clear by now that no one is going to fight our battles for us. No one is going to make us matter until we start acting like we matter. And we are not doing that. We are doing the opposite. All Black people are not ignorant. We have the potential to become doctors, lawyers, judges, bankers, franchise owners. It is not that other groups are smarter than us. It is just that we look to movements and marches and groups and organizations like the NAACP to do for us when that is SO not happening.

A ‘movement’ is not a hash tag, nor is it spouting off at the mouth and displaying your ignorance. The group’s collective ignorance is not hard to see. This group is nothing more than a joke and not a very funny one at that; it is a travesty and the tragedy is that many Black people are falling in line with this joke because #BLACKLIVESMATTER is just a diversionary tactic, set in place to divert Black people from what really matters. If Black people woke up to what they could collectively do on their own, they would be a force to be reckoned with but if ‘the powers that be’ continue to write the script and pound it into us daily that if instead of realizing and recognizing what we should be doing, we instead allow ourselves to be sidetracked by some made up hash tag with a hidden agenda that has nothing to do with Black people making gains in America, we will continue to never realize our potential. And this is all done by design. Find out who is sponsoring the group; financing the group. Find out why the group is only making noise, but is lacking in any substance. Why is the group focused not on building up Black people, but instead seems hell bent on solely getting a message to, I really don’t know who, that #BLACKLIVESMATTER. Black lives are never going to matter to the whites, that should be well understood by now. It is time that Black people took a stand and stood up and came together to help Black people. No one can solve all of our problems for us. We have to take some responsibility for what becomes of us. We know the white man is hell bent on trying to eradicate us and since that is a fact, why would a group, #BLACKLIVESMATTER continue to tell Black people to march to the same whites that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and all the other Black people marched to in the 1960s? What has been accomplished if Black people are still to this very day, marching to the same group that they’ve been marching to for over 50 years? What is wrong with you? Why is it that the Koreans can come to America and work together and open up their own businesses? The Pakistanis do it. The Chinese do it. Every other group can get their act together, but we cannot. I do realize that we got our start in America as slaves, but our ancestors had it worse than we do and we know this and yet, we make a mockery of their memory because if they could see how far we have not come as a race of people, they would be outraged and ashamed because as many of us that the white man kills, we are also on the streets doing his job for him. Is this really necessary? By now, we should not still be marching to the white man, begging for some relief or joining some jumped up ignorant screaming fools that simply crave attention and only manage to make themselves appear ridiculous and yes, ghetto. Will we never get it?

If I have said it once, I have said it a thousand times, you cannot expect to get different results by continuing to do the same thing over and over again. You are going to get the same results. Stage another protest and what has that accomplished? Petition City Hall to close down some more streets and parade all up and down the streets of America and what has that accomplished? I’ll tell you what it has accomplished. It has accomplished tired, aching feet and shoes with worn down soles and that is all. Your limp ass protest signs dating back to the 1960s are just as irrelevant today as they were back then. What has changed? Jim Crow? Jim Crow is throughout this land. Where do you live, Black folks? Are you rubbing shoulders with the whites? Or are you segregated in Black communities? Are your children rubbing shoulders in school with their white counterparts? How many Black-owned businesses are you entering? Can you not easily tell when you have entered a so-called ‘white neighborhood’? And why is that? It is because you are still just as segregated today as when Jim Crow laws were first put on the books. Still think that you can drink out of any water fountain? Take your Black ass inside an exclusive country club asking for a glass of water and see what you get for your troubles. Walk by a ‘gated community’ and see how fast the cops show up either before or after some vigilante has mucked up your day or night.

Black lives will only matter when Black people finally decide that their lives really do matter. We should not need Black lives to matter to the whites. That is never going to happen. We as Black people must first matter to ourselves and we don’t. We don’t like our hair. We don’t like our own people because their skin is too dark or their skin is too light or they talk too ‘white’ or too ‘Black’ or they don’t have the ‘cool’ clothes  or the ‘cool’ smartphone or some such nonsense. When will that shit cease to matter? When Black lives really matter and not just junk that we buy, then and only then can we go about the business of accomplishing something worthwhile. And the #BLACKLIVESMATTER group matters not, nor is it helpful or relevant to the awakening that must first take place in the heart of each and every Black person in America. You’ve got to matter to you. It is not about how much you matter to someone else. Matter to yourself and maybe then, you will change your perception of what is important and realize that it is not about Timberland boots and Nikes and rims and fake nails. And remember, the reason why we are doing so poorly as a people in America is because we are divided. And you know the saying. “Together, we stand, Divided, we fall.” And that is why Black America, we are falling. It is because we do not stand together!

#BLACKLIVESMATTER cannot stop you from falling. That movement will not catch you because that is not what #BLACKLIVESMATTER is all about. Do your own research. Educate yourselves and stop listening to the lies. Stop reading the script of others and write your own. Make your life matter and in the process, maybe then, you will understand that if your life matters, then so does your neighbor who is also more than likely Black, and together, you can start a ‘constructive’ movement. You will not need a Section 8 voucher that pays some unconcerned white landlord hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to house you in the poorest section of town, the “Black section.” Is #BLACKLIVESMATTER addressing this issue? Is #BLACKLIVESMATTER addressing the inner city school-to-prison pipeline? Is #BLACKLIVESMATTER addressing the Black child poverty rate? The Black unemployment rate? Is #BLACKLIVESMATTER using its donations to build safe, decent, affordable housing because that government backed HUD mess certainly isn’t working. HUD doesn’t give a damn where you live or even if you live. Why do you think congress takes more money from HUD each year? It is because HUD is a failure. It is a gigantic black hole that swallows taxpayer money and there is no return on that investment. Don’t believe it? Don’t take my word for it. Read this!

I say, “Black Lives don’t even matter to Blacks!” Make a liar out of me, I dare you!

  1. Reblogged this on 1EarthUnited and commented:
Economic, social, political change starts from within. It requires organization, cooperation and courage. This post is significant b/c it’s much more than a race issue- it’s about taking personal responsibility- which applies to every single person who wants to make a difference. Absolutely right Shelby, we should never rely on “somebody else” to fix our collective problems, esp if they have hidden agendas ie. (corporate elites, politicians, Rachel Dolezal)!

    1. Exactly 1EarthUnited. This is really not about race but about personal responsibility and realizing the potential that each of us has. We are not a hash tag. We are not a protest sign, nor are we letters on a t-shirt. We are so much more than that but until we believe in ourselves, we will continue to look to others to fight our battles for us as though we are powerless when in fact, if we actually took the solutions that are before our very eyes to negate many of our issues, we would then get somewhere, but what we do is just continue the same, useless marching and protesting that we have done for decades too numerous to count.

We don’t want to do the hard part. We want it nice and easy. We want to look to someone or some group to solve our problems for us. We want some politician to recognize our plight and get it done. That is not going to happen. If it hasn’t happened already, then it is not going to happen. Together we have the means to climb out of poverty, hunger and despair, but until we realize that it takes a collective effort, we will continue to fall and to fail. Wailing and moaning and gnashing our teeth, screaming and shouting and wearing out our shoes is not going to get it done.

I thank you for the reblog and for your spot on comment! It is much appreciated.

  2. I bet a phone conversation with you would be long and very interesting.

I’m under the impression that life doesn’t matter. We live in a society that disagreeable with life period. Have you ever seen an animal that shits where it eats and sleep? Humans do. Have you ever seen an animals of like kind kill each other for nothing other than a disagreement? Humans do. They say animals don’t have self-awareness – well thank god for that cause there wouldn’t be an unoccupied mirror for us two legged animals to stand in front.

Blacklivesmatter is just a fad, a hashtag, a thing for now. I got into an exchange with a Blacklivesmatter person and I was called everything but a child of god. So please – we can’t even speak to each other and I’m suppose to believe you give a shit if I live or die?

    Please.

    1. HLJ, believe it or not, I give a shit. If I didn’t, I would cease to write essays that try to encourage people to look within themselves for the solutions to their problems and not continue to believe or hope or pray that some group or that some organization is going to be like Superman and save the day for us.

And you are right, life does not seem to matter to people, in general. If it did, would the world’s population be this fucked up? One of my greatest hopes is that we never get the technology to go to some distant planet because we will only do to that planet what we have done to this one and that is to fuck it up and then start yelling and screaming about ‘man-made climate change’ and the destruction of the environment even as we continue to do that which we claim is causing the destruction of said environment.

It is interesting that you brought up the point about what a conversation with me would be like. I called my cousin this morning and he informed me that he was just in the process of joining #Blacklivesmatter. After I gave him the lowdown on the group, he had a distinct change of heart with regards to joining. This is actually where this post came from, that conversation.

I seriously get tired of being repetitive, but if I did not care, I would not continue to inform people of why there is a need to understand that they don’t need a ‘movement’ to tell them that they matter. They need to search within themselves and come to the realization that self-love must come from within and not from a hash tag and that we need each other because together, we can accomplish much, if we’d only come together and cease with the hatred we have for those who look like us. Again, I will state that “Together we stand, and that since we are divided, that is why we fall.”

I thank you most kindly for your comment.

      2. Not at all HLJ, not at all. I just wanted you to know that sometimes, even though I am hard on us Black people, it is because some of us need a knock upside the head because many of us don’t even believe we matter as individuals, much less, collectively.

Spill your guts! This a ‘spill your guts’ friendly zone. In here, you can rant and rave and spill your guts to your heart’s content. You see that I have no problem doing it!

And likewise, I respect you, very much and I always look forward to seeing you in here. Never think that I don’t. So spill away! LOL

        And again, thanks HLJ!

  3. Until people start to see that race is just the easiest way to keep the classes clearly deliniated, they will keep shouting that their group is put upon more than the other groups are. Wake up. It has never ever been truly about race but class.

    1. Thank you for stopping by shoe1000. What you say does have a lot of merit. I just came across this article.

Unarmed white teen killed by police. Family asks: Where is the outrage?
Zachary Hammond was on a first date when he was fatally shot by a police officer in his car during a drug bust in South Carolina, his family says.

At the time the 19-year-old was shot and killed, his date, Tori Morton, was eating an ice cream cone, according to the family’s attorney, Eric Bland.

Morton, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana — all 10 grams of it — which, according to police, was the reason undercover agents set up the drug buy.

The official police report never mentioned the two gunshots that killed Hammond on July 26 in a Hardees parking lot.

The family’s attorney, Eric Bland is hopping mad because from #Alllivesmatter, he is only hearing the sound of crickets chirping. There is some hash tag group for everybody and yet, what is the point? Billionaires are financing groups to take a stance that only continues the divide.

There is a real serious class warfare situation going on and we are focusing on as you say, “who is put upon the most’ when in reality, this is an attempt to distract us from what the real issues are. We are being manipulated and we are falling for it, as usual. Those who write the script, sit back and watch it all play out, line for line and we never disappoint them. We are hating each other and we refuse to look at the big picture and sadly, I don’t think we ever will. So, while we are playing social media games, income inequality continues, police brutality continues, the stirring up of racial tensions continues and nothing constructive comes out of this.

Again, thank you for your comment.

  4. Great post Shelby. Even before I found that Soros founded this movement, I never was really into it, for some of the reasons you listed. You could also add what they did in supporting the politicians who wanted to bring down the Confederate battle flag, which was always been near the least of our worries in the South. Even for those blacks who are still protesting, BLM always show up and make things worse, such as running into a diner with white customers and screaming Black Lives Matter at them.

I don’t think I will support Bernie, but he is just a moderately influential Senator now. Why aren’t they doing this with the more powerful Democrats, including a certain man? Why are they acting as if Republicans are the only ones to blame, which is why they threatened to shut down the GOP convention next year?

    Liked by 1 person

    1. N.S., thank you for your comment and yes, I agree with you that the confederate flag was not a high priority and I am originally from the south. In my opinion, the focus on the confederate flag just made things worse for the Black people in the south, such as with the burning down of predominantly Black churches. To stir up that hornets nest was the last thing that was needed. I am certainly not pro-confederacy, but those people have been waving their confederate flags since the Civil War and all of a sudden, it’s just now become problematic when it had simply been taken for granted by some and ignored by others.

And I did read about how those BLM group members show up, screaming and yelling to all and sundry. That is no way to gain sympathy for a ’cause’. It would produce quite the opposite reaction from me. So, you make a valid point in that regard.

Bernie Sanders certainly gets no support from me, nor will any other candidate because I have ceased to bother myself with voting. It may seem wrong to many, seeing as how many Black people got mucked up while trying to obtain the right to vote, only to have the Supreme Court gut the hell out of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. I just feel that there really is no point in voting. However, I encourage others to do their research and vote accordingly. So, I am certainly not advocating that people should refrain from voting simply because I am. The politicians talk the talk, some of them, but in reality, they’re out for big business, Wall Street and to line their pockets with bribes and kickbacks.

It is my understanding that Soros donates money to the democrats and that the founders of BLM work for Soros, so that could explain why they target republicans and intend to disrupt the GOP convention. Like I said, they are following a script and many people are climbing on board because their website states their agenda but then they go right out and act ignorant and they are going about it all wrong in attempting to get results. They are only going to get labels attached to them, and not exactly supportive ones at that.. Some are already calling them ‘anarchists’. They may consider themselves to be flying high now, but once those that are financing them have determined that they have outlived their usefulness, then they will go the way of all other fly-by-night upstarts and become a distant memory.

I sincerely thank you for your comment.

  5. I know the people who organized the Saunders event in Seattle. They were responsible for organizing fake protests in front of the South African Consulate in the 1980s (and excluding more radical African Americans who wanted to shut the consulate down). They also distinguished themselves by trying to block the African American community from opening an African American Academy in a school they wanted for a yuppie “alternative” school.

I have no idea whether these and other past conflicts played any role in the decision to shut the event down, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

    1. Wow! Thanks Dr. Bramhall. You’re a veritable fountain of information. Not much gets past you and that is a fact. It would seem that there is a lot of fake ass shit going down and who knows what’s legit? I have to sit back and observe before I decide to give a nod to what some group is doing because it would seem that every ‘group’ or ‘movement’ has an agenda that is not totally consistent with the claims they make. This mess certainly is revving up just in time for the next presidential election circus. Makes me wonder.

Again, I thank you for that most insightful comment. It is always good to hear from you!

    1. Prince, I’m going to try! Just like I call out that other organization filled with sell-outs, the NAACP or as I call it, the NAACC, National Association Advancing Corporate Coons, the #Blacklivesmatter group has got to prove something to me and until they do so, they’ll get the same contempt that I have for the NAACC. The NAACC has been lollygagging along for how many years now? One hundred and six years! And Black people are still just as bad off today as they were when the goddamn organization got started. Where are the advancements? Celebrating the whores and gays of Hollyweird is getting not a goddamn thing accomplished for Black people. But then again, that’s the whole point and I do believe, the same thing with this #Blacklivesmatter. They got to make a believer out of me!

I thank you for your comment Prince!

If I shake anymore, I’ll be suspected of having Parkinson’s Disease. I despair of us Black folks. We just never seem to learn. But like I stated to HLJ, if I didn’t care, I’d discontinue writing posts such as this. I’m hoping for awareness, any day now.

I sincerely thank you for your comment TheOriginalBlackWoman13. Your blog is truly inspiring. And I have been remiss in telling you so! Thank you for those absolute relevant posts of yours. We are trying and that is a fact!
