The lights are glowing bright in the city.

And everything looks calm, from the outside,

but away from the lights, away from the action,

deep

down

in

the hood

Black faces frown and groan from years of hunger and rejection,

and will kill the likes of their own reflection,

And everything looks calm, from the outside.

But away from the Black faces,

frowning and groaning,

Angry and moaning

Way

Out

There

In

The suburbs

White faces smile and enjoy their inheritance with glee,

proud to be here and glad to be “free”.

Everything looks calm from the outside, indeed.

The fire inside,

is America’s Black seed…
