Where Is FEMA? Where Is The Red Cross? Where Is Donald Trump? Victims Of Hurricane Michael Which Includes A Family With A New Born Baby Were Sleeping In A Walmart Parking Lot

The Trump Administration has claimed, “Job well done!” in seeing that victims of Hurricane Michael have had their basic needs met. Trump and porn star, Melania, toured areas devastated by Hurricane Michael and concluded that the government disaster relief agencies are ALL on top of their game. Well, this couple begs to differ.

Child of the storm: Homeless baby, family shelter at Walmart

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Their home full of soggy furniture and mosquitoes, Wilmer Capps was desperate to find shelter for his wife and their son Luke, born just three days after Hurricane Michael ravaged the Florida Panhandle.

So Capps, his wife Lorrainda Smith and little Luke settled in for the longest of nights in the best spot they could find: The parking lot of a Walmart store shut down by the storm.

On a starry night, mother sat in the bed of the family’s pickup truck; her child sat in a car seat beside her. Dad sat in the dark and pondered how it could be that his son’s first night out of a hospital could be spent outside a big-box retailer because of a lack of help.

This is reminiscent of another child who was a newborn and there was no place for mother and child and this is why we celebrate Christmas. Do you remember THAT story? Well, here we have a mother and three-day old baby boy put out of the hospital with no place to lay their heads since the federal government was useless and so a ‘good Samaritan’ came to their rescue when the federal government was supposed to be doing its job to assist people in finding suitable living accommodations after they go through a natural disaster. The same can be said of the Red Cross. The Red Cross has no problem spending our donations in advertising that it is a charitable organization charged with the task of coming to the assistance of people who are in the midst of trying to survive a natural disaster or fire or some such calamity and yet, where were they when this couple needed them? I would certainly inquire as to what is going on with your donations, if I were you because it would seem to be that they are not going for the purpose of what they were intended.

The article goes on to mention the fact that this couple had been given a ride to a hospital by the police but while at the hospital, it was decided by doctors there to not induce labor. The pregnant woman could not find a ride back from where the police had first picked her up and so had to walk seven miles back to her point of origin while almost ready to give birth. The next day, her labor pains began in earnest and she was driven to yet another hospital in Dothan, Alabama where she gave birth to a male child and then was promptly released from the hospital back into homelessness with a newborn baby. Ain’t America great? Because due to the fact that the couple could find nowhere to stay in or around Dothan, Alabama, they drove back to Florida where they were still unable to stay in their storm-damaged home and so the only place they could think of to park and not be harassed was at a Walmart that was closed due to storm damage. They settled in the parking lot, whereupon police officers showed up after an AP reporter descended on them to write a story about their plight. The police escorted them to a center whereas the newborn was checked out, however, the center did not have any availability for them and FEMA advised them to stay at a shelter that was riddled with bugs, both bed and of other varieties and the couple declined. I would have done likewise. And so the couple drove back to the Walmart to spend the night since they were almost out of money and gas, but thanks to the kindness of strangers, a security guard paid for them to stay at a hotel near Panama City Beach and the father of the newborn is adamant that he is going to pay back the donations once he gets back on his feet because he is just overwhelmed with joy that someone would came to the assistance of his wife and newborn in their darkest hour.

Sadly, these are the very people who would vote for the likes of Donald Trump who could care less what his supporters are going through since there are other stories similar to this one thanks to Hurricane Michael having caused so much destruction, misery, homelessness and death. Trump and the republicans would rather institute tax breaks for the very rich and throw more money at an already bloated military budget than fund necessary programs to keep people from having to depend on the ‘kindness of strangers’ in times of natural disasters and other calamities since you can plainly see that the Red Cross is next to useless as is FEMA. No woman who has just recently given birth should have to stay at a homeless shelter with her newborn after their home has been rendered, uninhabitable by a natural disaster because those shelters are breeding grounds for bugs, communicable diseases and germs. Breathing the air in those places is enough to send one to the hospital and a newborn and a woman who has just given birth should be the very last to ever hear that a homeless shelter is the place for them.

What is wrong with us when this is acceptable in the richest country on the planet? How can we sit back and read such as this and not be moved by it? Are we that selfish and self-centered that we have no problem with this being the status quo? Quite obviously we are especially seeing as how there are millions of people who have no home and though it is not due to a natural disaster, many of them are homeless through no fault of their own. Many have mental illness, some are homeless veterans, many are children who are most definitely NOT to blame for their situation of homelessness. And many of those who are homeless have lost jobs to overseas sweatshops since manufacturing jobs are all but gone and with Trump upping the ante on this trade war with China, who knows what’s coming down the pike except that it will not be good. We are to the point where there are plagues coming back that were thought to have been eradicated. How is it that the richest country on the planet has a group that consists of millions who are homeless, sick with typhus, hookworm and other horrific diseases and illness and we just look the other way?

I have said numerous times all over this blog, that if the Christian’s “Jesus” were to come back, he’d damn well better come back driving a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and adorned in a Dormeuil Vanquish II suit and sporting a pair of Testoni Norvegese shoes because if he comes back looking broke, wearing a plain cotton robe with a rope tied around his waist and sporting sandals, he’ll be locked up for being a vagrant and made to earn a dollar a month making license plates and what’s more you ALL know this!

Though this couple depicted in this post are not Joseph, the Virgin Mary and Jesus, their story is reminiscent of why we supposedly celebrate Christmas and so what has changed? There is still no room at the inn. The government officials are still just as cold and callus as they were in the story of the birth of Jesus and I guess we still need gifts from ‘Wise men’ which in this case would be the security guard who donated a hotel room for the couple and their newborn baby. And so the next time you decide to write out a check for charity, I’d think twice about it if I were you since only ten cents of every dollar that you donate to the Red Cross actually goes to help those in need. Ask yourself where the majority of every dollar goes. Take a look at the CEO’s salary and those who make up upper management, you’ll find where the money goes. And FEMA is just as useless now as it was when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. You all know what happened at that time. Should what went down then, still go down today? The answer should be a resounding, “NO!” But it isn’t. Think about it. The next disaster to strike could be where you live. Who or what are you going to depend on and will a kind security guard be there to help you? You’d best hope so because the Red Cross and FEMA are next to useless as is Donald Trump alongside his porn star wife.

  1. Thanks for sharing this, Shelby. Interesting that it took a minimum wage security guard to take pity on this family and put them up in a motel. In my experience, the poor are always far more generous with their extremely limited resources than the well-to-do.

    • That is so true Dr. Bramhall. I just got in from being out all day driving people here, there and everywhere. Gas prices are on the rise and I hope I can continue doing this because I am not rich and the rich ain’t helping no one but themselves. The people I try and help are so thankful, I would hate to disappoint them and stop doing this because it is SO very needed.

The poor are indeed, attempting in every way possible to help out other poor people. We do what we can and that was a wonderful thing that security guard did for this family. Just look at the new baby, completely unaware that his life has gotten off to a rotten start simply because he was not born into the family of George W. Bush or Donald J. Trump or Bill and Melinda Gates or the Waltons, but was born to people who are just ordinary folks who try and make a living, but when a hurricane hits, the agencies that should be in place to help them are offering jack shit! Those of us who would do the right thing if we had the money that Jeff Bezos ass has or Mark Zuckerberg, never get the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of poor people. Those greedy, arrogant fucks could help billions, but they are too cold, callous, thoughtless and heartless to do anything but continue to amass a fortune. And they certainly can’t take it with them when they are lowered into the ground. It just makes my blood boil, it does.

Dr. Bramhall, I thank you for your comment.
