New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced he is considering putting up large tents as temporary shelter for the influx of relocated migrants the city is struggling to accommodate, The Associated Press reports.

The proposed tent city is one of many options city officials are considering to house the estimated 13,000 migrants that have arrived from Texas and Arizona. Cruise ships and summer camps are also on the table.

“This is not an everyday homelessness crisis, but a humanitarian crisis that requires a different approach,” Adams said in a statement Thursday.

Despite its extensive system of homeless shelters, New York City is struggling to find accommodations for the newcomers. At the helm of the unexpected influx are a number of GOP governors, who have shuttled thousand of migrants to liberal areas like Martha’s Vineyard, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. in protest of President Biden’s immigration policies.

MINNEAPOLIS — A sprawling homeless encampment that had hundreds of tents at its peak is gone from Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis. Sanitation workers hauled away the last few tents Monday, July 20, and park police arrested about 20 people, residents and activists who refused to leave.

In fact, he said that Queen Latifah was speaking in Spanish and we ALL know that Queen Latifah ain’t fucking Hispanic. Now, I do know that there are some Spanish channels on TV, but not ALL channels should be speaking that shit. I called the cable company and the automated system message stated, “There have been improvements made in your area, we thank you for your patience.” I got on the phone with a representative of the cable company and the conversation devolved into my becoming enraged to the point whereas my cussing shitstorm erupted so bad that my cousin had to take the phone away from me in order for the cable representative to tell him how to get that Spanish speaking shit off the fucking TV. Now, I don’t even watch TV, I was just incensed at the very idea that we are soon going to be bombarded with that Spanish speaking shit to the point whereas there will be no turning back and I’m not about to learn fucking Spanish. It was bad enough when I lived in Minnesota to look up at the signs in the aisle at Cub Foods grocery store, and on one side, the signs were in English and on the other, the signs were in Spanish. I guess that’s about to change to ALL SPANISH. Folks, you’d better wake the fuck up and recognize where we are headed and where we are headed does not bode well for those of us who can state with a certainty that we are legal, English speaking citizens of this country.

Lebert F. Lester II still remembers his first trip to the beach. It was the late 1970s, and he was 8 or 9 years old, the eighth in a family of 11 children from a poor and mostly African-American neighborhood in Hartford, Connecticut. The shore of Long Island Sound lay less than 40 miles away, but until that weekend Lester had only ever seen the ocean in books and on television.

[At the beach] Lester set to work building a sand castle, and he was soon joined by a young white girl who wanted to help. “I’m talking to her about how we’re going to do it, we’re working together, and I’m not sure how long it was, but I look up and I see a man—I guess it was her daddy—and he snatches her away,” remembers Lester, recently reached by phone at his Hartford barbershop. Reasoning that it was simply time for the girl to go home, he kept on building.
