As I raise my flute in drunken glee, I look upon what was once a live tree. So concerned with this planet and global warming, my resolution to do better can wait til morning.
For tonight, I celebrate with friends and acquaintances, spreading well wishes and exchanging whispered confidences. The wrongs of this world, for just one night can wait a little longer for us to do what’s right.
A sick child with no health care will have to hold on until I open my bleary eyes to greet the new dawn. The Black man being dragged by the Ku Klux Klan should have seen them coming, he should have ran.
Of course I care about the people who have addictions just like I care about my neighbor who can’t afford her prescriptions. I know about the homeless who have formed a tent city. But for just this night, champagne will take away my pity. And as the seconds tick away towards the New Year, even champagne cannot stop me from shedding another tear.
I wrote this one because as we celebrate the ringing out of the old and in with the new, I cannot help but believe that more misery, cruelty, suffering, chaos, war and all things of horror, will follow us into this new year and beyond, for what will have changed?
As we head to our parties tonight, break out our party favors and drink our champagne toasts at midnight, wish each other a “Happy New Year,” are we really going to think that this year will be any happier than 2019 or 2018 or 2017? What is going to change to get us to actually mean it when we say, “Happy New Year?” It will be just another year of the same because we won’t change. We will continue in our old ways of ignoring those who are less fortunate. We will pretend as though there are not wars being fought just because. We will never for a minute think that we have aided and abetted in the destruction of this planet through our selfish acts as we scream, “Happy New Year To One And All!” If we really meant that, we’d know it because it would show, but when you look around, does it show? Does it look as though we give a damn about the children who go to bed, hungry? Does it look like we give a damn about the homeless? Does it look like we care about those who are in unimaginable pain because they have no health insurance? Does it look like we are going to start doing something to hold our elected representatives accountable for the way they continuously make the working poor pay for the idleness of the rich? Does it look like the ‘new year’ will bring about a change in the human psyche which seems hell bent on self-destruction? If any of you ponder these questions, I already know what the outcome will be. Exactlyhow you were in 2017, 2018, 2019 is how you will be in 2020 and on and on it will go until they plant you. Because we are always going to wait til tomorrow to ‘do’ better. Just like each and every year, we are bombarded with ads to lose weight and get in shape and some people actually make a resolution to do just that and then after a month, what happens? Back to square one. We’re pathetic!
And so, I will not say, “Happy New Year!” I will merely say, “Welcome to the rest of your lives!” War, misery, homelessness, joblessness, starvation, income inequality, racism, ignorance, selfishness, arrogance, greed, lust, apathy and complacency and your solutions to getting through all of this; heroin, crack, alcohol, weed, mass murder and suicide.
If I have said it once, I have said it a million times, “Technology is NOT our friend.” And the people who are in the path of wildfires in California are finding this out, firsthand.
California has built much of its emergency response system around the premise that alerts and evacuation orders will be received by residents with cellphones or landlines. But landline technology has changed, and telecommunications companies are increasingly relying on internet technology, which is subject to power outages, to serve households with voice calls.

I remember back in the 80s, we experienced a tornado that damn near decimated the town I lived in. There was a total blackout. But the only thing that worked even though no one had electricity, was the telephone; the landline phone. I was amazed when I picked up the phone and there was a dial tone. Thankfully, our house only suffered minor damage to some roof shingles, but many, many homes were seriously damaged and some even had a huge tree sitting smack dab in the middle of them. But we could still communicate because landline phones were working.
Fast forward to today and not only has our dependence on this newfangled technology hurt us, it is killing us since those in California, thanks to blackouts, cannot receive notifications to leave their homes ahead of wildfires approaching. People are literally going to die in their beds because we have embraced that which we should have spit on and refused to take up but because we are so stupid that we will just accept anything and everything that is put before us as an improvement to our lives, this is the result. We have no one but ourselves to thank for why we have enthusiastically embraced the cause of our demise and so don’t now turn around to look for someone or some entity to blame for our stupidity and failure to look ahead. Those people who have already died in those California wildfires and who will die in those California wildfires have no one but themselves to blame for why they are charred corpses or soon to be, charred corpses.
People sit somewhere and stare down at some smartphone as if it were their very lifeline when in fact, it will assist in their death because once that battery in that smartphone dies, there will be no phone calls, no apps to make sure food gets delivered via ‘Uber Eats’ and some more shit. Even when a phone has been turned off by the cellphone company for lack of payment, emergency calls can still be placed, but what good is that going to do when the phone is dead and there is no way to charge it?
Some of you are probably saying, “Well, why didn’t they charge their phones in their cars?” Seriously? How many people do you think are going to remember to head out to their cars, start them up just to charge a phone? And even if they did that, how soon do you think they’d run out of gas? See where I’m going with this? Of course you don’t because you’re stupid. You cannot see past what some commercial has told you that you need. You couldn’t even figure out that if it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is and smartphones and personal assistants are all very well and good as long as the electricity is working, but the minute that shit’s been shut down, Alexa and Siri can’t tell you a goddamn thing. They can’t make any suggestions to you as to what to do about the shit you’ve gotten yourselves into. That shit shouldn’t even exist but because you so enthusiastically embraced what is going to aid and abet your goddamn demise, you are now sitting somewhere looking stupid as hell.
Folks would look at me like I was crazy when I would tell them that that smartphone is one of the worse things they could have embraced. Now, there is 5G technology out there that is rapidly killing us because of the massive amounts of radiation it takes to stream your movies and shit over those goddamn smartphones, but even 5G cannot help you when the power is out. Now, how great is that? We fucking deserve everything that is coming down the goddamn pike because we not only begged for this shit, we insisted that it become faster and replace everything we had ever known and could rely on. We cannot rely on this shit that relies on a fucked up infrastructure that Mother Nature is destroying by the hour.
Folks in California and other places soon to be visited by catastrophes are going to die because of ‘new technology’ that replaced what was more reliable since we kicked up not one goddamn fuss about this bullshit that we embraced with such fervor. And now that this ‘new technology’ is failing us, we are looking around for someone else to blame. Look in the mirror. You asked for it and you got it and so now deal with the consequences. This entire planet is fucked up and is giving back what we gave it and as each year passes, the shit is going to get more and more lethal for us. And more and more of us are going to be impacted by it. So, don’t sit somewhere on your stupid ass and laugh at what’s going down in California as though catastrophes are going to stop with California. All of us are next. Count on it! I have actually seen comments whereas assholes are stating that “those liberals in California deserve those wildfires.” The shits that masquerade as ‘humans’ these days make me want to puke with how depraved they are! To some stank shits, even catastrophes are okay so long as they happen in a so-called ‘blue’ state as opposed to a ‘red’ state. What the fuck does that say about us?!! Not a goddamn thing good. LOS ANGELES – Mary and Charles Lindsey went to sleep to the glow of the Tick fire, but they had seen wildfires before and their two-story home in the Santa Clarita foothills seemed safe enough. All Thursday, they hadn’t gotten a reverse-911 alert, or an emergency email, or a phone call. All had seemed quiet since 11 a.m., when Southern California Edison shut off their power.
Mary and Charles Lindsey were two of the lucky ones, for now, since they escaped with their lives even though they received no emergency alert to evacuate immediately since their smartphone was dead. Next time, they may not be so lucky and many, many folks won’t be so lucky as Mary and Charles Lindsey. I usually say that this is something to think about, but the fact is, it’s too late to think about this shit now, because we are in the midst of it and the shit’s only going to get worse. So instead, think about how fucked we ALL are!
As the headlines proclaim and as you can clearly see, flooding swamps the U.S. in multiple states. In fact the list of states impacted by historic flooding is just so damn many, even I have lost count.
And of course, Mike Pence’s nasty, racist ass has put in an appearance. What the hell for? I don’t know because there is not a goddamn thing he or that orange lump of clay can do about that shit because they are as impotent to do anything about this historic flooding as taking a teaspoon of water to the wildfire that is burning in Arizona. One part of the country is on fire and the other is underwater. I fucking LOVE it!
Roads became rivers, high-water rescues were underway, and states of emergency were being declared in parts of the Southeast on Sunday after more than a month of rain fell in a day with more on the way.

There ain’t a goddamn thing horrible about that! Those people have THE best setup. How many of us can just put on snorkeling gear and dive in our basement as fish float around us even if we cannot really see them that well since the water is all brown? I suggest using a really high beam light to see the wonders of the rivers as you enjoy your snorkeling adventure right inside your homes. I mean, they do tell us to make the best of ‘any’ situation and so, snorkeling would be a wonderful way to spend the day with family and friends especially seeing as there is no electricity since the outlets are all flooded.
Why spend so much time packing for a trip to the Bahamas or to Jamaica when you can experience much of what you intend on experiencing in those places, right at home? No need to pack a bunch of bikinis and swim trunks, flip flops and other beach attire. You don’t need to purchase a plane ticket or worry about airport shuttles and Customs officials, passports and crowded beaches. No one is going to ‘crowd’ you out in your own basement. That’s the joy of having lakefront property. If ever the lake overflows and decides that it wants to take up residence in your basement, you know how like the whites decided to ‘gentrify’ areas and take them over that were originally inhabited by Black people, why all you need do is grab your bikini, your snorkeling gear and get to enjoying you a nice dive.

In North Little Rock, which sits across the river from the capital city, officials went door-to-door Saturday to urge residents in about 150 homes near the river to consider leaving.
“We’ve lived here for 12 years. Never been like this,” said Larry Campbell as he packed up his belongings of his North Little Rock home into the back of a truck, according to KTHT-TV in Little Rock. “It’s tough. It’s really tough.”

In St. Louis, several hotels crowded with visitors for the Stanley Cup Final and Cardinals-Cubs baseball games were left without hot water Sunday after too much water overwhelmed a pump station.

Heavy rain and melting snow that overpowered the Missouri River forced hundreds of families out of their homes and forced the base that is home to U.S. Strategic Command to sharply scale back operations on Sunday.
At least three people are confirmed to have died in what the National Weather Service called “major and historical river flooding” along parts of the Missouri and Mississippi river basins.
The Missouri River reached 30.2 feet in Fremont County in far southwestern Iowa on Sunday, breaking the record by 2 feet and topping levees in the towns of Bartlett and Thurman. A levee was breached on the Platte River near North Bend, northwest of Omaha, Nebraska, on Sunday afternoon; authorities urged all residents to move to higher ground immediately.
U.S. Strategic Command, or StratCom, which oversees the U.S. strategic nuclear forces from Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, said Sunday that floodwaters had overwhelmed the southeastern side of the base despite the deployment of more than 235,000 sandbags and 460 flood barriers.
Base commanders told NBC affiliate WOWT of Omaha that the flooding was affecting as much as two-thirds of the more than 16,000 active-duty and civilian personnel at the base — which, in addition to hosting StratCom, is home to the 55th Wing, the largest wing within Air Combat Command.
The situation is so bad here in America that yet another military base is basically in shutdown mode because it is overwhelmed by water even after the “deployment of more than 235,000 sandbags and 460 flood barriers?” Here is an idea! Get your damn asses out of Venezuela starting up some shit there and come back here where you are needed by assholes who live by the cliché , “Build, baby build!” Are any of the affected civilians impacted by these floods wondering why there is no real help? If so, wonder no more especially since the military cannot even keep its feet dry nor can they keep their asses from starting shit in other countries and those shits are what is supposed to see us through disasters? How many of you are laughing at the poor Black Katrina hurricane victims now? How many of you racists think that what happened to the Black Katrina victims couldn’t happen to you? Now, your ass is sitting all up in some makeshift Red Cross shelter waiting on some assistance and some word on when you can go back to your water-logged homes to see if anything can be salvaged. That shit ain’t so funny now, is it? From all reports, your asses are going to be sitting up in shelters for some time to come, so dig in and laugh about it! And from what I’ve seen, every last ass that’s impacted by that flood shit has been pale-assed! Go figure! I probably can count on one hand the statistics of Black people sitting up in Nebraska and Iowa, but of course, even if some Black folks were affected by the flooding, no news coverage will they receive. That’s only for lily-pale ass!
And the good news is that this is not over! Since levees have been breached and rivers have risen way beyond flood stage, the danger is not over because the flooding is expected to continue into Wednesday. Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and many other states have all been impacted by major flooding to the point whereas many states’ governors have declared a ‘State of Emergency’. I have no idea who they are going to call to help with the situation seeing as how military bases have had to be shutdown due to flooding. Yes indeed, we are SO ready for war. We are so ready for war that our military bases will be fighting the war from beneath a flooded base. I hope the world is paying attention to this shit!
As for the folks who died; one was asked to help rescuers that had been stranded on a bridge, but the bridge gave out. Another one drove past a road barrier that was placed on the road asking drivers not to go forward, but dumbass drove around the barrier and ended up floating down stream somewhere. And yet another one died because of refusing to leave their home. There are 11 million people across 14 states that are being affected by flood waters. What does that tell you? It tells me that this planet has had enough. When folks continue to build and ignore the fact that there is no place for water to go when there is concrete and asphalt every damn where, this is what you can expect. If they had a fucking teepee, this shit would not be occurring, would it? But no, you have got to cut the trees down and build a big ass house and a long ass driveway to store your 8 vehicles and then wonder why your shit is flooded out. Seriously???!!! Oh, but those assholes are going to gather in a circle once the flood waters recede and sing “Kumbaya,” and exclaim that they are going to rebuild. GOOD! So, next year this time, we will watch this shit play out all over again! And don’t forget that hurricane season is just around the corner and so those who are on the coast will join you in getting flooded out again especially since they have not yet recovered from last year’s hurricane season. Not to mention the folks in Paradise, CA are still trying to get their act together from the recent wildfires in California. Is anyone taking notes? Anyone paying attention? Keep on building those McMansions. Keep on driving your Hemi-powered pickup trucks and your GMC Trailblazers. Dewayne Johnson knows that he most likely will never see one dollar of the $290 million that a jury awarded him in a trial against the agricultural giant, Monsanto, but he wanted what happened to him after Monsanto’s Roundup came into contact with his skin, to not happen to anyone else. He will leave behind him a wife and two sons and he wanted them to know that you have got to be “strong and go all the way through.”
“Dewayne Johnson’s ordeal began when he took a job as a pest control manager for a Bay-area school district in 2012. Part of his job? Spraying glyphosate-based weed killers made by Monsanto – chemicals he said trainers told him were safe.
“One of the things that stuck out to me the worst is when they told me it was safe enough to drink,” Johnson said, adding, “Actually, they – it became a joke almost. Like, ‘Hey, man, did you drink your –’ … It was like, ‘What?’ You know, it was really a shock.”
Despite that, Johnson said he always wore his protective gear while spraying some 20 to 30 times a year, sometimes two to five hours a day.
“Oh, you’re gonna get it on you. You’re gonna get it on your skin. You know what I mean? It was never like ‘Oh, I didn’t even get any on me today.’ It was always like, ‘Man, I’m glad I had this on,'” Johnson said.
Especially after a hose came loose, he said, spraying chemicals inside his suit. It was a few months after that he developed a rash that spread over his body. “It never went away. And it got worse, and then worse, and worse,” Johnson said.
Doctors diagnosed him with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Later that year, he called Monsanto.
Of course no one from Monsanto called him back even after a representative at Monsanto told Mr. Johnson that she would relay his message to someone to give him a call. During the trial, it was revealed that an executive did indeed, receive a message to call Mr. Johnson, but he stated that he could not recall if he ever did speak to Mr. Johnson. That lying bastard knew that he had not bothered to call a man he knew was dying from a product produced by the vile company he worked for.
Mr. Johnson, despite having been told by his doctors that he had only months to live and most likely would not even live to testify at the trial against Monsanto, not only lived to see the lawsuit against Monsanto come to trial, but has also lived to see the $290 million verdict handed down against Monsanto since it is their product that is killing Mr. Johnson.
Dewayne Johnson, a human being, a descendant of slaves, who were it not for the fact of slavery, would not be in this country dying from a toxin produced by a corporation owned by those who look just like those who dragged his ancestors to this country to become slaves. Whatever Dewayne Johnson chose to do with his life, it should have been his choice to make, but that choice was taken away from him when his ancestors were dragged from their native land on a floating barge of enslavement and death and though some may assume that Dewayne Johnson would not have had such a wonderful life in Africa, how will he ever know? Anything that is living is obviously capable of suffering and that would include plants as well as humans and to make products available that cause plants to shrivel and die and humans to shrivel and die as well, should have long since been taken off the market. It is a deadly disease and the makers of Roundup should pay dearly for causing such suffering. It is way past time to hold corporations accountable for the damage they cause to those who live on this planet. Too bad there is no one to fight for the plants that suffer and die thanks to Roundup.
Furthermore, of course Monsanto’s lying slew of paid whores would say that glyphosate is safe. Does anybody believe that Monsanto would hire people to state that a product they are trying to sell is detrimental to human life? Monsanto claims that it has done extensive research on Roundup and that there are no indications that Roundup is harmful to humans. Bullshit! Let my Black ass go work at Monsanto, do some research on Roundup and speak with my supervisor about some findings that are contrary to other ‘scientists’ at Monsanto who have categorically denied any allegations that Roundup causes serious health issues in humans and I would be fired and escorted out so fast, I’d not be able to collect my personal belongings from my desk.

On January 31st of this year, I re-blogged a post from a fellow blogger regarding the fact that Hawaii’s indigenous population has been made homeless thanks to the Europeans moseying on over there and taking control of every piece of Hawaii, from Hawaii’s infrastructure to political representation thus rendering the voice of the true islanders, null and void.
Pu’uhonua O’ Wai’anae village is Hawaii’s oldest and largest homeless community. Most people who live there are Native Hawaiian. The unofficial mayor of this community, Twinkle Borge, had this to say, “How is it that the Hawaiians are struggling? You came here and took our land from us and we are struggling.”
A third of Hawaii’s homeless population are Native Hawaiian. And the white folks who went to Hawaii and apparently made it big off the tourist trade now own multi-million dollar homes and are demanding that local and state politicians continue to enact laws that make it illegal to be homeless in Hawaii and yet another law was enacted making it illegal to ‘sit or lie’ down on the sidewalk.
What was done to these people is worse than a disgrace and those of you who are of European descent have much to answer for, too damn much and yet, you are immune to the suffering that to this very day, you are the cause. How can you even think that you can call yourselves, “human?” Because it is quite obvious that the majority of you have no conscience to bother you at all.
The average house in Hawaii costs $700,000 and it has been stated that most people have to work two jobs just to pay for somewhere to live. And yet while the native islanders are homeless, in this video there were tourists who were having wedding photos taken at the same time that people whose land this was originally are trying to find water and who have no electricity in their homeless encampment.

Gov. David Ige said the volcanic eruption and its aftermath have spread fear and uncertainty. Volcanic vents, or fissures, have cracked open across the area and gobbled up dozens of homes and vehicles.
Several fissures, or cracks in the ground, are pumping out lava that’s threatening a local geothermal plant. If lava gets in the wells at the plant, it can release hydrogen sulfide, a dangerous gas.
Yes indeed, let’s come up with a brilliant idea to build a geothermal plant on an active volcano and expect the best possible outcome. What ‘brilliance’ was behind that decision? Now, the geothermal plant workers are supposedly working furiously to cap the wells so that no other gasses are mixed with the poisonous gasses released from the volcano that is costing Hawaii’s pasty-faced population millions in tourism dollars while the mainstream media would have us believe that now is the best time to visit ‘paradise’.
While Native Hawaiians have been suffering mightily since the Americans arrived, all the focus has been on what a toll this volcanic eruption has taken on those who have no business there in the first place. At least if the island had been left to the Native Hawaiians, there would be no need for worry over a geothermal plant meeting up with flowing lava.
The arrogance of whites will result in the destruction of us all while everyone else is expected to bemoan their fate from what they put into play. Those whites in Hawaii who have been impacted by Kilauea erupting can just cry me a river because I will save my anguish for those who are their innocent victims like Twinkle Borge, who is working tirelessly to aid the indigenous population to deal with homelessness that they were experiencing long before this latest volcanic eruption. I am SO in the Christmas spirit this year, I just cannot help myself. Bombs are being dropped in distant lands. Drones are killing innocent people. But for one day, we will put all of that aside. We will, for one day, express our love for our family and friends and associates. We will gift them all that credit cards can buy. This is how we show our devotion and love; with gifts. We don’t show our love by worrying about the conditions of third-world sweatshops and the people who ‘slave’ in them. We don’t care that people are suffering so bad, that they would rather commit suicide than continue on. We carelessly head to the mall and shop until we drop; shoving that piece of plastic across the counter and out the door, we go. But we are so thoughtful and kind and decent. We then head to the supermarket and thoughtlessly pick the choicest piece of butchered cow or pig or lamb and we get someone to cook that up for us; rare, medium rare or well done. Stock the liquor cabinet. Are all the mixers shelved and ready? Oh look at the beautiful tree. It was beautiful when it was in its natural state, but now, it has been chopped and kept ‘green’ by some polluted ass faucet water; that is until this is all over and then, “Throw it away!”
In all actuality, this planet should “Throw us away!” I wish to hell it would. With our fake ass moaning over climate change; we cut down more trees to have signs printed calling for climate change reform when we are instrumental in the death of this planet by the cutting down of more and more trees for those very signs.
