What Was Achieved By All The Marching And Protesting By Dr. King And Others?

A few years ago, I wrote a poem about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and that poem elicited some comments that basically intimated that Dr. King and all the others who were part of the Civil Rights struggle actually made no gains, period. Now, we can argue over it all day and all night as to whether or not Dr. King and crew were successful in their endeavors, but one thing I would like you to do is to continue reading and decide for yourself. And I will give Dr. King one thing, he tried….. something. Whether or not it was the right thing? You tell me.

Of Dr. King, We Are Just So Proud!

Of Dr. King, we are just so proud.
That man, he always drew a crowd.
He paved the way to a much brighter day.
His dream is alive in every way.

Tamir Rice is here to tell his story.
And Sandra Bland has no need to ever worry,
that her life will be snuffed out in a cell,
because Dr. King, he rang the freedom bell.

Michael Brown is in college where he belongs.
Eric Garner is in church singing spiritual songs.
Walter Scott is still driving down the street.
Freddie Gray is sitting down to a meal to eat.

They all owe their lives to Dr. King.
He said, “Let freedom ring! Let freedom ring!”
On the mountaintop, he saw through space and time.
And yet, they killed him while he was in his prime.

We thank him for the debt he willingly paid,
and for all the sacrifices he and his family made.
But what we will never know for certain,
is how he would react when they finally raise the curtain,
on a show that is a tragedy of the darkest kind,
and where Blacks are still left so far behind.
This play will not have a happy ending,
for its ending is just like its beginning.

Behold, the face of slavery is still Black.
And as in days of old, we are under attack.
But a man had a dream for which he died.
Was it all for naught? I’ll let you decide!

I want you to take some time to reflect on the question I posed. “Was it all for naught?” If Black people have made so many gains in the decades since the Civil Rights Movement, then where are they? If we as a people have ‘moved’ forward, then where are the results? #BLACKLIVESMATTER? Give me a break! If we as a people had moved, there would be no need for the #BLACKLIVESMATTER Movement, now would there? The incarceration rate for Black men is off the charts. Millions of Black people live in deep poverty and a ridiculously high number of them are Black children. Millions of Black people are jobless, homeless and hungry and lack healthcare. But here we are, about to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day. Celebrate what, I ask you? Tell me! What is there to celebrate? Staggering unemployment figures for Black youth and young adults? A homelessness epidemic? Mass incarceration? A school-to-prison pipeline? Out-of-control racist KKKops brutalizing and murdering unarmed Black people? Grand Juries that refuse to hand down indictments on racist thugs with badges? Gun violence in Black communities that are so impoverished as to be likened to 3rd world nation conditions?

And yet the ‘whites’ sit back and gleefully point the finger at what is going down in communities of color and point to how ‘violent they are when they know why. Whites know that this is all done by design, but it is so easy for them to live in their little ‘white bread’ world and hurl invectives and “I told you sos” when ‘whites’ are hell bent on gentrifying neighborhoods that once housed Black people because the suburbs was once the place to be if you were ‘white’. You sit somewhere with your holier-than-thou attitudes as though your shit don’t stink. You shamelessly and callously wish death on a group of people who were not responsible for being dragged to this hellhole you call, America. You strut around like proud peacocks, puffing your chests out and pretending that you’re not rotten filth when you are actually worse than that. And you have the unmitigated gall to pretend to acknowledge Dr. King with your phony ass displays of righteous indignation over the brutal treatment he received at the hands of you ‘whites’. You have the nerve to speak his name, to post his “I Have A Dream” speech as though you ever did a thing to help bring his dream to fruition. You’ve done everything possible to see to it that his dream was never realized and you are not fit to read his name, much less speak it. Why you have not burst into flames upon speaking his name is a complete and utter mystery to me because all that should be left of you is ‘white’ ash!

The above is what I also posted along with the poem and next, I am going to post a comment about this particular post and my response.

hunglikejesus wrote:

I’ve always looked at MLK with curious eye because my parent were both Black Panthers when I was growing up and Dr. King was almost forbidden in my house. I only saw him as an on bent knee begging white people for some table scraps and to please not hit us anymore. Though growing up, I’ve come to understand him a bit better and my only thought now about the man is, “praying has brought Black peoples nothing but dirty knees and empty pockets.”

shelbycourtland’s response:

HLJ, this isn’t so much about me revering Dr. King as it is about exposing the blatant and outrageous hypocrisy of the ‘whites’. They are the very ones who go on and on about Dr. King’s ‘dream’ when it is quite obvious that they gave not a damn for the man nor his dream. They spout useless rhetoric each and every time the holiday in his name comes around and that is all they do. And while they are doing this, the continuation of enslavement of Black people continues, the continuation of the Negro status as that of 3rd class ‘citizen’ continues. We aren’t even tolerated in this shithole. We are incarcerated and murdered and yet the ‘whites’ go on and on about how thankful Blacks should be since we are supposedly living in the ‘greatest nation on earth’. I fucking beg to differ with that assessment. Black people are a people without a country. We are enslaved in a system that is corrupt to its core and is filled with racist filth and we are expected to subjugate ourselves to criminals of the worst kind.

Dr. King was but a tool and he was used to put down any attempt at an insurrection, a rebellion or a revolution. The ‘whites’ condoned the actions of Dr. King because he was their namby-pamby house Negro; the same as Barack Obama and all the rest of the coon head sell-outs that bow and scrape to the ‘white’ motherfuckers and lick their boots clean while scrabbling for their table scraps at the same time. I am not giving any accolades to Dr. King because he was no revolutionary, he was a stooge. My poem is a sarcastic and antonymous portrayal of Dr. King. That is why I stated that because of Dr. King, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Michael Brown and Walter Scott and so many others have him to ‘thank’ for their lives. My point is to also show how far we have NOT come even with these so-called ‘movements’ that are merely fake assed props that are put in place to give Black people the illusion that they are actually doing something constructive to put a stop to the genocide of them by the ‘whites’. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Dr. King was just a figurehead, a prop; complete with suit and tie and bible. He was the ‘white’ mans house nigger and he did a fine of job of spreading the ‘white’ man’s propaganda of telling Black people to go about effecting change, all peaceful like. And when his usefulness was over, they fucking killed him just to show that a gun is aimed at us at ALL times because we are still their property! Fuck ’em!

I thank you for your comment.

And another great comment I thought I should add.

Good post. A lot of us at least have some idea of the real deal with him but too many don’t. They could start looking at what really happened with the march on Washington. They should ask themselves why do we only hear of one person from that era? I also think someone else wrote most of his famous speeches? While he stayed with mostly the same approach, Dr. King had doubts about a lot of what he had said earlier before his death.

How long will we keep marching? Those of us who are marching need to stop. When will we get to the “Dream”?

Is this another white Jesus thing? To be fair, there were black Christians who pretty much can’t be criticized but his approach seemed to be pulled straight from parts of the Bible that even those who believe in the BIble find hard to justify(I myself don’t believe in those passages or the books that contained them).

shelbycourtland’s response:

They can consider Dr. King to have been a figurehead, a Civil Rights leader, a scapegoat or what have you, but his sole purpose was to misdirect Black people’s anger away from fucking shit up but instead focused it on ‘peacefully’ marching down the goddamn street of every pothole filled city in this shithole. You don’t hear the ‘whites’ screaming and jumping up and down about setting aside a day in which to honor Malcolm X. And you won’t! Malcolm X was not going on and on about some ‘peaceful’ this and ‘peaceful’ that. He had some harsh words for those vile ‘white’ shits that have firmly planted their boot on our Black ass and refuse to lift it.

Malcolm X was a revolutionary who believed in violent resistance, he believed in getting things done ‘by any means necessary’. That is why he said, “It’s got to be the ballot or the bullet.” The ballot ain’t worked. And we ALL fucking know what it would take but the revolutionaries of the ’60s are either dead or still locked up and so we just dutifully continue with the useless ass marches and protests with signs dating back 50 years when not a goddamn thing is going to change simply because we are holding up a sign. What has #BLACKLIVESMATTER accomplished? Not a goddamn thing!

Thank you for your comment N.S.

As I have stated before, peruse this content to your heart’s content and then think about the state that Black Amerikkka is in today and you tell me, did ALL of that marching and protesting lead to ANY gains? And if so, how so? Where are they? Black people are more asleep today than than they were in the  60s thanks to dumb ass rap music, pretend beefs among so-called Black celebrities, Youtube madness, Twitter and Facebook mess and the like is endless. There is only moaning and whining coming from Black Amerikkka when Black people do eventually look up and realize how fucked we are that is until another distraction down the pike; another Black Panther Movie or Madea bullshit movie from the likes of Tyler Perry’s faggot ass! That shit, we don’t need. Hell! Damn near half of Black Amerikkka has no idea why today is being ‘celebrated’. Check this shit out!

Just skip to the five minute mark when she says, “The kids are out of school on Monday and we don’t even know why.” Also, her sixteen year old daughter did not even know why she is out of school today. Seriously???!!!! Too busy staring down at shit on a phone, most likely is the reason and the mother is just too dizzy for words.

This is what we have to work with these days and it is quite obvious, that we have nothing to work with. So you tell me, what was it all for? Cluelessness? Ignorance? Gluttony? Youtube channels? Twitter? Facebook?

Black Amerikkka is dealing with rabid racism, gentrification, income inequality, mass incarceration, a school-to-prison pipeline, disparities in healthcare, child poverty, a homeless epidemic, crime infested neighborhoods, drugs and gangs and prostitution that is out-of-control and the list of the like is endless and yet, here we are ‘celebrating’ Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day. For what? And in less than two weeks, we shall be expected to ‘celebrate ‘Black History Month’. Why? Because I have just described  ‘Black History’ up to present day and so what is there to celebrate? You tell me. I can’t wait.

White Women’s March Planned For Martin Luther King Weekend Cancelled Due To A Lack Of Black Faces To Put On Display

Event organizers are claiming that a ‘lack of diversity’ has caused them to cancel a women’s march in the city of Eureka in Humboldt County in California that was to take place on January 19, 2019, a day that coincides with the holiday that supposedly honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A planned Women’s March in California has been by canceled by the organizers over fears about the lack of diversity from those taking part.

Apparently the organizers did not think it would look right to have only ‘white’ faces in attendance at an event so close to a holiday set aside to ‘honor’ a Black man who was assassinated because he believed that people of all complexions could live in harmony with one another which does not seem to be the case in Humboldt County since the Black population count stands at 1 percent. Nope, no diversity there. I guess they remembered just in time that in Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, he said,  ‘I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.’

That ain’t happening in Humboldt County and that fact would be quite obvious when a bunch of white women took to marching through the city of Eureka for….hell if I know. Because what the hell are white women marching for? What rights do they lack? They are living the ‘good’ life in Humboldt County, free from having to rub shoulders with poor Black folks and so what need have they to take to the streets?

However, it should be quite well known that Dr. King helped launch the Poor Peoples Campaign which was meant to draw attention to the economic disadvantages of poor Black people in America, who despite taking up the white man’s ‘Christianity’, were still poor as hell then and are just as poor as hell today. Dr. King was brainwashed as well into believing in that Christian blue-eyed Jesus bullshit!

But now, along comes some rich white women, who, apparently, have to research history in order to figure out that it would not look good for them to parade their ‘white privilege’ around town with nary a Black face in the crowd to give their march for ‘whatever’, any credibility especially when it coincides with the holiday honoring a Black man who spoke out in defense of poor Black folks who were being economically disadvantaged and with Black History Month right around the corner, that was just not a good thing to do. Damn! Those white women just cannot win, can they?

However, some prospective event attendees were quite put out by the cancellation. So much so that they voiced their dismay on Facebook. Go figure! They’ve obviously not heard or maybe they just don’t care that Facebook has announced that their data is still being hacked. That’s all good!

“I was appalled to be honest,” Amy Sawyer Longwrote on Facebook. “I understand wanting a diverse group. However, we live in a predominantly white area…not to mention how is it beneficial to cancel? No matter the race people still want their voices heard.”

David Holper added: “I was really saddened to hear that the march won’t be happening this year. Isn’t there still time to reach out to minority groups and pull this together?”

Yes indeed, it is absolutely appalling that this event was cancelled due to the fact that Amerikkka is just as racist today as it was when Dr. King and crew were marching through the streets of this shithole attempting to showcase the plight of Black people who faced down high powered water hoses, were bitten by vicious dogs, were denied the right to vote, were denied the right to go inside any establishment and be served since Jim Crow was the law of the land(still is) and yet, whites are the ones who are appalled. Why am I not surprised? They still want their voices heard. Bitches, you are always somewhere with diarrhea of the damn mouth. You’re all over the news; both local and national. You’re on every talk show with your ‘view’ and still you feel that you are not being heard? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit!

And David Holper wants to know, in this eleventh hour, if there is still time to reach out to minority groups and pull this thing together. Well ain’t that a bitch? “Quickly now, let’s find some minorities over in ‘Poorville County’, you know where they are, underneath bridges, sleeping in boxes and standing in line at the welfare office. Just go there and pay some a few dollars and they’ll be glad to walk with us for a few blocks in January. They’re already homeless and so what’s a little cold weather to them?”

Whites don’t give a damn for any other group on this godforsaken planet, but for some strange ass reason, they are somewhere attempting to get people to understand that they’ve got no fucking rights. You’re the only ones who have rights because you give them to yourselves while everyone else has to take a back seat and deal with your shit! And now, you’re whining because you can’t find some ‘minorities’ to back your shit up so that you can strut through town and show your ass as if you’re doing something worthwhile. Nothing you worthless pasty asses could do is worthwhile because you are worthless. You’re all wastes of skin. So sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up!

We don’t want to get bombarded with pictures of a march with you decked out in pink pussy hats looking stupid as hell protesting the likes of you! Because I know you’re not protesting Donald Trump because you voted him into office. And now two years in, what’s the use in you taking to the streets to protest what you put inside the White House? Trump is doing nothing to fuck up your damn day, but he sure as hell is doing plenty to fuck up ours. You’re the same shits that call the kkkops on us for doing not a goddamn thing wrong, but apparently, to you when Black people are barbecuing, selling bottled water, sitting in a hotel lobby, sitting in a Starbucks, taking a nap in a common area of a college dorm they’re paying tuition at, accidentally bumping into you in a store, doing their job of inspecting houses for fire codes, taking pictures of a house they intend to buy, that’s wrong and yet you expect Black people to march down the goddamn street with you? So that you can call the kkkops and say that a Black man or a Black woman or a Black child is marching down the street? Seriously?

Why White Women Keep Calling the Cops on Black People

In April, when a white woman called the police on two black men in a Philadelphia Starbucks, the video of the event went viral. The men were accused of not making a purchase and therefore trespassing. They did not damage property or assault anyone, but their lingering was enough to cause them to be ejected from the store. Most significantly, there was never a confrontation between these men and the woman who called the police.

In the following weeks, a white woman called the cops on a group of black people barbecuing in an Oakland park. Not long after, another white woman called the cops on a black girl selling water on the sidewalk in San Francisco. Because we were able to see these white women’s faces, their identities have been turned into memes and they’ve been given nicknames – BBQBecky and PermitPatty, respectively. The accused were not violent, but apparently they were seen as  disturbing the peace, whether it was through conducting business, enjoying themselves or simply being present.

But now you’re cancelling a march due to a lack of diversity and you racist bitches have the nerve to wonder why. Fuck you!

I Had A Dream…..!

I had a dream the other night and in it was Dr. King.
I stared in awestruck wonder as my eyes began to sting.
The expression on his face was so solemn and yet so kind,
I wondered if he knew about the turmoil in my mind.
What could I say to him about the troubles we still know?
And I wondered if he knew about the debt that whites still owe?
I implored him with my mind to see history through my eyes
and this distorted world of whites who still hail him with their lies.
I wanted him to see the view from where we stand
beneath a concrete bridge and homeless in this land,
where Jim Crow still exists from when hatred was unleashed
and though he too was jailed, millions weren’t released.

Today, they’ll praise his name and say that things have changed
that they no longer burn a cross or watch a Black man hanged.
But we all know the truth in that lynching still exists
and I see the whip slice forward, there’s the echo of its hiss.
The view from where I stand is not from on a mountain top
as I look upon my brother, killed by a racist cop.
His blood still stains the ground and as I turn to Dr. King,
I extend my hands towards him for to him, I want to cling,
to beg him to come back to us, but he only shakes his head.
I then realize tis a dream and that Dr. King is dead!

As we, again, celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Day which this year happens to fall on his birthday, we will hear from people who would assassinate Dr. King a million times over if they could. We will hear from the hypocrites who pretend to pay homage to a man who was not for corporations and who was against the mis-treatment of the poor and yet,  on the front page of every newspaper, magazine, television screen and any other type of news media, we will be bombarded with images of Dr. King and we shall hear his “I Have A Dream!” speech another trillion times and then, that’s it folks!

Not a thing has changed since Dr. King’s speeches, marches, protests and nothing will because simply posting a picture of him and recalling his words does nothing. If anything, things have gotten much worse.

For instance:

The University of Maryland Medical Center’s top executive apologized to a patient who was discharged and found on the street wearing only a thin hospital gown and socks outside its midtown facility, calling it an isolated incident.

“We take full responsibility for this failure,” Dr. Mohan Suntha said during a Thursday afternoon news conference. The hospital did not provide “basic humanity and compassion,” he added.

Hospital officials have not said what the woman was treated for in the emergency room or why she was left out in the cold near a public transit bus stop. Mohan said she received proper care while in the hospital and that the incident happened after discharge.

Translation!

As we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day as well as his birthday, just a few days ago, another Black woman was thrown out of a hospital by security, clad only in a hospital gown and socks. While she was wandering aimlessly around, with no obvious idea of what to do, another Black man decided to tape the incident because he was absolutely beyond horrified over witnessing this shocking event.

Because the event was taped and posted on Youtube, now there is an uproar about ‘patient dumping’ that seems to happen to mostly Black patients and the hospital’s top executive stated that this patient “received proper care while in the hospital and that the incident happened after discharge.”

Excuse me! But when did it become the norm to discharge patients in a hospital gown and socks in the middle of a frigid winter’s night? I can tell you that of the times that I have been discharged from a hospital, you had damn well better believe that I was not discharged in a hospital gown and hospital socks and told to “Suck it!” as this woman was apparently told to do! How many times have you seen a patient sitting in a chair being wheeled out of a hospital and to a bus stop by security while still wearing a hospital gown(open in the back) and socks? And if you read the article, it mentions that this happens more times than we know and especially to the homeless. Go figure!

And yet, we are really going to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy? Is this his legacy? Seriously??!! We really want to go there??!!! When Dr. King, along with his civil rights organization, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, decided to launch a campaign to highlight the many problems facing the poor, the result of that today is to put poor patients out on the street in the middle of a frigid winter’s night in nothing but a thin hospital gown that doesn’t even close in the back and a pair of hospital socks? But that is an acceptable discharge according to the hospital’s executive director? Because the hospital is responsible for you from the time you are admitted until the time you are SAFELY discharged. And being sent out in that condition, especially in a city like Baltimore, is anything but SAFELY discharged.

How is this even happening? It is happening because poor people are not even thought of as human even in a hospital. Read about Anna Brown and Barbara Dawson and then come talk to me about how Dr. King’s legacy is alive and well because these two women are dead since they were treated just as this woman in Baltimore was treated.

So, go ahead, post your blogs commemorating Dr. King and espouse upon his legacy as though that has any meaning whatsoever because quite obviously, none of us know a damn thing about how we are supposed to be treating each other and we don’t want to know. Can you imagine Dr. King, with a smartphone in his hand, more worried about getting the latest model over helping some poor, homeless and sick woman find her way? Do you think that Dr. King would give a damn about a Wi-Fi connection? How does that help feed the hungry? How does that clothe the naked, like this woman who was dumped out of a hospital in the cold? How does that help a single mom who is about to become homeless with her kids? A mom who just recently worked for one of the Sam’s Clubs that Wal-Mart just shut down without any warning whatsoever which means for those of you who want to blame the victim for their troubles, who is to blame when the company you work for closes its doors and you only find out that you don’t have a job when you report to work?

Yes indeed, let us cease and desist with all social programs because the poor should just die already as this is why we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day! Let the hypocrisy begin!

This Holiday Is A Travesty!

Dr Martin Luther King Jr1

They say your life had meaning.
You even played the game their way.
And still they had you killed.
But they claim to honor you today.

So toss and turn in your grave,
for how can you sleep peacefully
when hate did strike you down;
hatred drenched in white supremacy?

There is no such thing as freedom,
just ask the men and women behind bars.
This holiday is a travesty,
given the white man’s thirst for wars.

No One Gives A Damn About His Dream!

the dream

Yes, let us celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day when we don’t give a damn about his dream. His children don’t even give a damn about his dream since they are too busy fighting over his Bible and his Nobel Peace Prize. So when did they ever listen to any one of their father’s speeches? When did they ever take just one to heart? It is quite obvious that they never did and neither do we. Oh we dutifully put his image up for all to see as if we are actually doing something and the truth is, we’re not doing a damn thing about realizing the dream that this man had. And quite frankly, he is not the only one to have a dream. Many, many Black people have been dreaming of a society where they will not be “judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character” and is that the case? If you are Black, you will forever be judged by the color of your skin because as far as whites are concerned, you have no ‘content of character’.

Just recently we marched and protested that #BlackLivesMatter and for all I know, some are still protesting, but do Black lives matter? Answer this. How many world leaders came to America and stood front and center in front of a million people to say “#Je suis Black?” How many world leaders went to Nigeria when Boko Haram killed over 2,000 Nigerians and said “#Je suis Nigeria?” Did Netanyahu? Did Angela Merkel? Did Francois Hollande? Of course they didn’t.

“French President Francois Hollande is surrounded by Heads of state including (LtoR) Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Council President Donald Tusk, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Italy’s Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and Switzerland’s President Simonetta Sommaruga” ‘to protest the murders of Charlie Hebdo employees, employees of a piece of filth rag claimed as a satirical political weekly that produced racist and blasphemous filth. But still, some white folks got killed over their ‘freedom of expression’ and so solidarity was called for’.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/01/11/us-france-shooting-idUSKBN0KK05S20150111

To those people, Black and Brown lives don’t matter. White lives do. It doesn’t matter how vile whites are and how much corruption they spread and how greedy they are. Their lives are the only lives that matter. It has always been this way and it will always be this way. These are the ‘people’ that you march and protest to and who you want to correct wrongs. Think about it. Why should they? They don’t care about you. Michael Jackson told you that but you believed all the lies put out on him by the whites. They tore that man’s reputation to shreds because he had a message and through his talent, he spoke. But he got silenced. Whitney Houston had the most beautiful voice that I have ever heard and yet, where is she? Dead and buried and some filthy slut named Beyoncé is strutting around in nothing, sounding like shit. And if it’s not her crooning to her piece of filth pimp, it’s Nicki Minaj doing much of the same. And what are the Black men of today doing besides rapping about bling and hoes or getting their bodies mucked up playing sports? Yes, we are realizing the dream, aren’t we?

Today we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King’s accomplishments; the success of the Civil Rights Movement when in fact, the movement was not a success. It was an unmitigated failure. What has changed since Martin Luther King marched along with all the others who peacefully gathered to have their grievances heard? Not a goddamn thing. The same issues and problems that Dr. King’s marchers faced, we face today; only our tormenters have upped the ante. We’re now shot with rubber bullets and tear gassed, but we are still jailed. That’s a given and never will it be any different. And why are we still marching? We were marching in the 1960s and here we are in 2015, still marching for the same damn things. What’s the point? Who needs to become aware of what we are marching for? They already know. It’s not going to change, that’s what those of you who are still marching need to know. If you haven’t figured out that since the same shit is stil in play 50 years after the Selma to Montgomery march, then your marching ain’t gonna change a damn thing because since when have Black lives mattered?

The people that you want to change things are not going to change them. They like things just the way they are and that is why the police force has been militarized, that is why Black bodies are lying in morgues all across this shithole called America, that is why inner city schools have become a pipeline to prison for little Black children, that is why slavery in the form of the prison industrial complex is necessary, to house the slaves who ‘slave’ away for corporations, producing goods at a fraction of the cost. And those of us on the outside, head right inside a store and purchase what slaves have made. We are slaving away at stupid jobs to purchase what other slaves have produced. But we will continue to march and we will continue to protest and dream and hope and wish and pray and maybe someday, someday, someday, those who we want to see our marches will realize that this is all so wrong and they will then right the wrongs. Stop lying to yourself and stop dreaming. Dreams are for people who are asleep and don’t want to wake up because reality sucks. It stinks. No one is going to realize your dream for you but you.

The powerful that control all of us are not going to loosen their grip. They are not going to stop being corrupt, greedy, deceitful and instead are going to recognize that they should share in the wealth that they have acquired by the fact of your making it possible by your willingness to work for peanuts, by your willingness to indebt yourselves to them to purchase what slaves are producing, including you. We are all slaves. We are all enclosed in our own little cages. We have the illusion of freedom, some of us, but not many. We pretend that we have rights and freedom and that our lives are lived how we choose. No, it’s not. What you do with your life has been chosen for you. You are doing exactly what the powerful choose for you to do, no more and no less. Step out of line and see how fast you find your ass handed to you. You don’t think that all of this surveillance is for your own good, do you? It is to keep tabs on you. You need a passport to go anywhere. You need an ID to show everybody. You need a number assigned to you. You have a FICO score. Your medical records are digital. That means that every government agency knows where you shop, what you drive, where you go, who you talk to, what your medical conditions are and how much money you make, where you spend it and on what. Does that sound like freedom to you? Are you marching against that? If so, why? What do you hope to accomplish? I’ll tell you what you are going to accomplish by marching. Not a damn thing. You are owned. We all are. This is all an illusion. We are in the matrix, but the matrix that we are in, there is no Oracle and no savior. You’re on your own, just as all the rest of us are. We are here until we’re dead. Accept it.

So, remember Dr. King today. Thank him for all his sacrifices because you are where you are today because of Dr. King and all the others who marched and protested to get you where you are. And where would that be? You’ve just finished college and started a job. Good! Now, pay back that student loan. You are flipping burgers and you are sick and tired of it. Too bad! What else are you going to do? You are filing endless forms in an office and thinking about a vacation you’ll probably never get to take because you’ve got mouths to feed. I’m sorry. Keep dreaming. Dream on, fellow matrix dwellers, dream on!

Oh and Je suis Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.! Je suis Charlie got pretend solidarity from the world’s leaders in France, but damn it if they even bothered to pretend solidarity with the murdered Nigerians or the murdered young Black men in America, murdered by racist ass cops, or the drone-struck and bombed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Pakistan, Ukraine, Gaza ……” Never forget, it’s white bodies that matter and Dr. King’s dream will never be realized because Dr. King could not say “Je suis white!”

The Dreamers

1963 march on washington

In a little over a week from today, government offices will close in honor of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and his “I Have A Dream” speech will be played and his image will be displayed on television screens and all across the internet and we will once again, put on a pedestal this man who had a dream, a dream that was shared by millions who stood, marched, protested and died because ALL people should have equal rights under the law. And so, here we go again, another year of “I Have A Dream!” Another year of living a nightmare, nowhere near to a dream. So many sacrificed themselves and for what? Take a look around and again, I ask..for what?

And so, here’s to the ‘dreamers’….

He had a dream and like most dreams, they fade with the rising sun.
There were many who dreamed with him and they are but whispers in the wind.
Those who are left to carry on buried their torch and sold their legacy.
Their sacrifices were in vain as the book of dreams closed when they died.
Today, it pays to be a sell-out and not a dreamer, nor a sacrificial lamb.
The so-called Black leaders of today, crawl like dogs and beg at Massa’s table.
They don’t stand tall with the bearing of kings; today, they are weak.
Black men of today lack the qualities found in leaders; they’re not leaders, they are followers.
Their women are treated with contempt and disrespect and even hatred.
They’ve turned their backs on their little children and shunned them one and all.
From their mouths, they spew forth the foulness of the gutter.
They hate themselves and this does show when their pants sag to their ankles.
What education they received was from a prison in every United State.
Their money is from drug sells, bought and packaged by their government.
They are sold up and down plantation row and the bars are made of steel.
When they are put out on the streets, they are taught to rob and steal.
If they’re not caught up in the new slavery, they are rotting in a box.
Is this the dream that was dreamt so many years ago?
Did a sacrificial lamb envision this hell on earth that is without end?
What are ‘Al Sharp’con’ and ‘Jesse Jack’con’ doing about this nightmare that is no dream?
They are the dogs that crawl to corporations with hat in hand to pave their way to gold.
I hear tell of a Black man in the manse; it is the greatest lie that was ever told.
Yes, a man did have a dream as did so many, many others but his dream and theirs is but a whisper in the wind.
…and the flames of hatred, racism, injustice, brutality, slavery and barbarism light up the dreamer’s night.
There are no dreamers today, only schemers and liars and hypocrites and dogs who crawl to Massa!
Goodnight and sweet dreams Dr. King and to all the others who stood tall; Malcolm X, Fannie Lou Hamer, Bayard Rustin*, and A. Philip Randolph and to so many, many others as your dreams died with you and only hate and greed is our reality.

Black men in America, I dare you to go to the above link and take a look at how ‘MEN’ dressed. They are not unkempt and disheveled, pants down around their ankles, can hardly walk properly. If your ass was down around your ankles, then your pants would be made that way. Show some self-respect and get some dignity, even if you have to borrow some.

…and Black women, you don’t get off that easy. These ‘men’ are your sons and this is what you teach them? To go out in public with some jailhouse look about them? Where is their father? There was a time when Black women had more respect for themselves, for their bodies. What is wrong with you? And then some of us have the temerity to wonder why Black men fall right in with Massa’s plans for them. When they have no one in the home to look up to, who do you think they will emulate? Why do you think gangs and violence and drugs are prevalent in Black communities all across this country? Yes, I know there is poverty, but there was poverty back in the ’60s and yet, our grandmothers never dressed the way you do, they didn’t open their legs to every man who blinked at them. We’ve come a long way and we’ve come the wrong way. Take some of the responsibility for what you produce. A culture of Black men who impregnate women and then move on without a backward glance, on to the next. A perpetuating cycle that is destructive and we see the effects every single day. And then you will have the audacity to point to a picture of those who struggled during the Civil Rights Movement and exclaim over what they tried to accomplish and you will take pride in it. For what? Because there is nothing to be proud of today, that is for certain. With the majority of your sons behind the steel bars of slavery or out in the streets selling drugs, pimping and killing and making babies that may or may not even live to grow up and turn out to be just like some ‘daddy’ they won’t even know. Yes, we’ve come the ‘wrong’ way!

Another dreamer…..
