What Freedom?

soldier saluting

So, you want to fight FOR your country. Why? You want to fight for your country because you’re protecting freedom. Isn’t that right? You want to fight for your country because your country will take care of you and your family while you fight for your country. Isn’t that how it goes? You can’t find a job and so you don a military uniform, grab a weapon and defend America against what, an enemy that is threatening the freedom of Americans? Let me clue you in on something, Americans have never known what freedom is.

First of all, have you taken a good look around lately at what America is descending into? America is descending into a military state. Americans no longer have any rights, much less a goddamn hint of freedom. What you claim to be defending by fighting for never existed. You’re fighting and you don’t even know why. To those who start the wars and conflicts that you are sent into to fight, you are nothing. You are expendable. You are cannon fodder and even you don’t have any rights. You don’t even have the right to see war crimes committed and speak out against them because if you do, you’ll be imprisoned, just ask Chelsea Manning about rights and freedom. Is this the America that you are fighting for, an America that claims to stand for freedom? That shit has always been bullshit and we ALL know that. When the founding fathers sat down and penned the Declaration of Independence, there was no freedom for all. There was no “we hold these truths to be self-evident that ALL men are created equal…endowed with certain unalienable rights.” Many of the founding fathers owned slaves and even though American history has been whitewashed and fucked with, we ALL know that the slaves were not included in any ‘freedom for all’ bullshit. We know that hypocrites stole this country from the original inhabitants, the indigenous peoples. The Indians were also excluded from that ‘freedom for all’, bullshit and don’t you know it!

Now, fast forward to today and tell me, what has changed? The game is still the same, only the names of the hypocrites have changed. You are fighting for a country that never intended to stand for freedom for all. That is just a mere word to give you a false sense of patriotism and to get you to fight for some ‘freedom’ bullshit that never was and never will be. You are fighting for a cause that NEVER WAS. There was never any intention of America standing for freedom for all, just a select few. And guess what? You’re not included in that select few, just as I’m not. But the difference is that I’ve always known this and you have been fooled into believing that you were one of the chosen, the few, the proud, the military. Oh, didn’t that just make you feel so damn good? When you stepped out in that uniform, you didn’t see it, but I did. Your uniform had ‘SUCKER!’ written all over it and I bet you also failed to see the ‘bull’s-eye’ that was located right in the center of your forehead. You are nothing more than a hired gun and a poorly paid hired gun at that. It’s just a ‘job’ to you. It’s not personal. But there, you are wrong because it is extremely personal when you kill someone who has done not a goddamn thing to you. It is extremely personal to that man, woman and child that you murdered in THEIR country, not YOURS. You didn’t even have a right to be there. What about their freedom? Freedom ain’t meant just for you. They were fighting you because you were infringing on THEIR freedom by your very unwelcome presence in their country. You did not have a reason to shoot not one single person in Iraq. You had no goddamn reason to shoot one single person in Afghanistan and guess what? That’s on YOU! You chose to don that uniform, pick up that weapon and simply do as you’re told without question. Even if you knew it was wrong and you did know, you still went right ahead and pointed your weapon and fired and people who had done not a goddamn thing to you, died.

So let’s say that somehow, you make it back to America and what happens? Your family is grateful to have you home, the only thing is, you’re not all of a piece. You’re missing a limb and if you’re not missing a limb, your brain is fucked up. You can’t seem to function and the family is complaining that there ain’t enough food to eat and so what do you do? You sign up for public assistance and when that ain’t enough, the next thing you know, you’re all homeless. Now, you’re not worth shit to anyone, not to your country, not to your family and not to yourself. And you begin to ask yourself, “what was it all for?” And the answer ain’t pretty because the answer is that it was all for nothing. You killed someone, not for freedom, not for democracy, not for justice, not for human rights. You killed someone because the elite warmonger fucks just wanted to continue to line their pockets and the pockets of those who sent you into foreign lands to kill or be killed and they didn’t give a damn about you and they damn sure didn’t give a damn about your family or what happens to you if you can no longer perform. You’re a ‘has been’. You’re like a horse with a broken leg. They’d rather ‘put you down’ then continue to feed and house and clothe you because the warmongers only want you when you’re able to carry out your ‘duty’ of killing and when you’re no longer up to the job because your limbs are missing or your mind is fucked up beyond hope from witnessing some horrifying shit, you’re a liability. You’re no longer an asset, so then, you must get ta steppin’ and they don’t hardly care where you step nor whether you’ve got a leg left to stand on.

By all means, keep pretending that you are fighting for a country that stands for freedom for all and because you think that if you fight for your country, your country will fight for you. If that were the case, then why are so many veterans, homeless? How is your ‘freedom loving’ America fighting for your ass? Why are so many people incarcerated in America? How is ‘freedom’ working out for them when we incarcerate more people than all other developed countries, combined?

If America stands for freedom for all then why the need to kill to obtain that when no country has attacked America since the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941? If Americans are so free, then why must Americans get radiated in order to board an airplane? If Americans are so free, why are Americans spied on every single day by America’s NSA program? Are we all terrorists? If Americans are so free, why are people being detained without due process? If America is all about freedom, then why are innocent people killed by drone strikes all over the world? If America is all about freedom for all then why are military bases all over the world, to ensure freedom for everyone? You know better than that. How can you not fail to understand that the very threat to freedom is coming from you? Yeah, you….the one who is wielding the weapon that is meant to kill an enemy you never had. That is why that at the end of the day, when all is said and done, you will either go insane because you will finally understand that what you have been doing goes against the very idea of freedom and how freedom is born because freedom can never be propagated by using military force or you will become that which is what the warmongers champion, an empty, evil shell that may have once housed a human, but whose humanity has now, fled the building. You will have become freedom’s mortal enemy.

Put down your weapon and let the warmongers fight their own battles. See how many wars they start then. And remember this sad little fact; there are no homeless elite warmonger fucks, just homeless veterans, both male and female. There are no hungry elite warmonger fucks, but there are plenty of hungry veterans lining up at soup kitchens every single day. Remember that when you’re told that the only way to bring freedom to the world is by picking up a weapon. America doesn’t even know what freedom means because America never stood for freedom and it never will and when it comes to fighting for you, when you are no longer any use to the warmongers, you’re on your own.

Tears Stream Down My Face

tears I cry

Tears stream down my face as I take a look around.

So many I see struggling just to stay above the ground.

A human spirit fights but the blows are just too much.

The callous and the cold; no love will ever touch.

With frightened, pleading eyes, a child looks up at me.

She is only five years old and she’s called a refugee.

Her country is at war and she does not understand,

that people kill each other just to get the upper hand.

Another child across the sea is homeless in her way.

Her mother lost her job and the rent she could not pay.

With frightened, pleading eyes, a child looks up at me.

She is only five years old and she’s called a refugee.

Yes, tears are in my eyes and I hate the world I know.

Where little children suffer and are not allowed to grow.

When the sick are left to die and the greedy have no soul.

They never see the hungry when they hold an empty bowl.

A world in pain and agony; a world in mortal sin,

and everywhere you go; there’ll be a child who’s weak and thin.

Another world there is of pomp and circumstance.

No Cinderella’s ball; it is a never ending dance.

What jewels are on display; fountains flowing with champagne.

And a child looks up at me and her eyes are full of pain.

Yes, tears are in my eyes as I see no hope at all,

and above her little head, a bomb’s about to fall.

We Are The Terrorists

terror

What rights do we have left? We have watched them fade to black.
There are those who tried to warn us. They’re on the torture rack.

They dared expose the truth; shed light on all the lies.
So many people dead, so many lost their lives.

The West destroyed the East; just look what we have done.
We always cross an ocean to take from everyone.

Wherever we have gone, the people always lose.
There is something that they have; there is something we can use.

We must control the world and all who live there in.
And every place we go, the killing will begin.

Not many we let live, our bloodlust’s never sated.
We will never stop, we’re loathed and we’re hated.

The innocent are the guilty. You’re so easy to deceive.
The truth is hard to take and so you won’t believe.

Do you understand how expendable you are?
Just ask Bradley Manning, he was a rising star.

He exposed our depravity, let the world know where we stand.
Liberty and justice and freedom have been banned.

Look at what we’ve done to him; we’d do the same to you.
Never doubt it for a minute. Our course is tried and true.

The dead did see it coming; they could not avoid attack.
Children cry for their mothers who are buried in Iraq.

“Why?!”

Why must we seek to destroy each other?
Why not simply live in peace with our brother?

Why does hate consume our very soul?
Like a hot, smouldering fire, deeper than the blackest hole.

Why is there no love in every human heart?
How can we find it? Do we know where to start?

Why are we so callous and indifferent to suffering?
We hurl hateful words, never once are we stuttering.

Why make weapons that kill indiscriminately?
In the name of a group, or act, independently.

Why must we continue to be our own worst enemy?
As with great relish, stoke the flames of hostility.

Why will we never learn that we are all unique?
Why is the outlook for our future so damn bleak?

Why does one show such enmity for another?
Why can we not love? Too much of a bother?

Why can I find no hope for tomorrow?
WHY?! WHy?! Why? The echo is so hollow!

The Boston Marathon bombing was a horrible tragedy! The above poem was written for the innocent victims, their family and friends. My heart goes out to each and every one of them! And also for those who did all they could to help! Words simply fail me in trying to figure out why or how any human being could do this to another!

Suffering Around The World:The Plight Of The Indigenous Peoples

It pains me to have been reminded that not just people indigenous to America are ill-treated, but that other people around the world who are indigenous to their region are also being subjected to ill-treatment, contempt, outright ignoring of their plight, abject poverty, low unemployment and a host of other ills.

I read an article about the Aborigines of Australia and how the suicide rate among them is skyrocketing. This is mirroring the exact same thing that is going on here in America on Indian Reservations. In both instances, these people have the same issues in common; an unconcerned government, abject poverty, high substance abuse, suicide, hopelessness, despair, anger, frustration and they are the First Peoples of their land.

When the Europeans settled here, they supposedly paid the Indians for their land, however, many land treaties were ignored or broken and the land was simply stolen. The Indians were killed and several tribes were wiped off the face of ‘America’. The First Peoples were herded onto reservations, had their culture stripped from them, along with their land and were told to assimiliate or else. History has shown us that to the ‘victor go the spoils’ and that history is also written from the viewpoint of the conqueror, never the conquered. History is also ‘airbrushed’ as many do not want their misdeeds to be seen in the true light for what they were, enslavement, killing, stealing, raping, pillaging and much of this was done in the name of religion as was the case with the African slaves dragged from Africa to America and yes I know, Africans are not Indigenous to America, however, their treatment is also disgustingly abhorrent as was what happened to the Indians.

The Aborigines suffered the same fate as the Indians Indigenous to America. People showed up from different lands, many were convicts. A penal colony was formed at Botany Bay set up by Great Britain. The following includes more on that:

The first 736 convicts banished from England to Australia land in Botany Bay. Over the next 60 years, approximately 50,000 criminals were transported from Great Britain to the “land down under,” in one of the strangest episodes in criminal-justice history.

The accepted wisdom of the upper and ruling classes in 18th century England was that criminals were inherently defective. Thus, they could not be rehabilitated and simply required separation from the genetically pure and law-abiding citizens. Accordingly, lawbreakers had to be either killed or exiled, since prisons were too expensive. With the American victory in the Revolutionary War, transgressors could no longer be shipped off across the Atlantic, and the English looked for a colony in the other direction.

Although not confined behind bars, most convicts in Australia had an extremely tough life. The guards who volunteered for duty in Australia seemed to be driven by exceptional sadism. Even small violations of the rules could result in a punishment of 100 lashes by the cat o’nine tails. It was said that blood was usually drawn after five lashes and convicts ended up walking home in boots filled with their own blood–that is, if they were able to walk at all.

Convicts who attempted to escape were sent to tiny Norfolk Island, 600 miles east of Australia, where the conditions were even more inhumane. The only hope of escape from the horror of Norfolk Island was a “game” in which groups of three prisoners drew straws. The short straw was killed as painlessly as possible and a judge was then shipped in to put the other two on trial, one playing the role of killer, the other as witness.

As bad as the transported convicts had it, the Aborigines suffered even more.

Clashes with colonists

When Europeans first began to colonise Australia, towards the end of the 18th century AD, they found cultures and environments which, in hindsight, were of incalculable value.

Much of this ancient legacy has been destroyed forever in the subsequent two centuries.

Contact between new settlers, under imperial British rule, and Australia’s indigenous people, led to the decimation of many Aboriginal groups due to disease, dispossession and in tens of thousands of cases, outright murder.

As populations declined and were fragmented, many unique linguistic and cultural traditions as well as valuable knowledge about the land and its fauna and flora were lost forever.

Land Theft

Seizure of Australia by British Imperial forces was claimed to take place under British law.

Even at that time, the British legal system had developed some traditions of fair dealings with native populations inside colonies.

These constraints were not applied on the ground in Australia. Invasion and blatant land theft by settlers were justified under the astonishing legal fiction of “Terra Nullius” – the notion that Australia was effectively unoccupied before British colonisation.

The lack of indigenous systems of land ownership (in the European tradition of private land ownership) was used to give credence the idea of Terra Nullius. The basic idea was that it was impossible to rob Aboriginal people of land, as they’d previously never owned land.

It would seem to be the case that Indigenous Peoples all around the world have been grossly abused, misused, killed and had their land stolen from underneath them and yet, centuries later, their plight is still the same.

And the Indians Indigenous to America?

The following is from “Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee” written by Dee Brown:

“On the morning of November 29, 1864, 600 Cheyenne and Arapahos camped on a bend of Sand Creek were awakened by the sound of charging hooves. Two thirds of these 600 were women and children as the government granted able bodied men to go east and hunt buffalo to feed their hungry families. Only 35 braves were in the camp. This made the ensuing charge all the more frightening for the women, children, elders, and remaining braves.

So great was the fear of the coming charge that men, women, and children ran from their lodges into the biting cold taking no time to fully dress. The partially dressed Indians began to gather under a huge American flag above Black Kettles lodge (Black Kettle was given the huge American flag and peace medals by Abraham Lincoln and Colonel A. B. Greenwood in Washington only a year earlier and was told that as long as the American flag was above them, no one would be harmed). The braves present surrounded the women and children gathered under the flag. At 8:00 am more than 700 cavalry men under the command of Colonel John M. Chivington and Major Scott J. Anthony, rode in and fired on the huddled Indians from two directions. After the initial charge the US soldiers dismounted and continued the indiscriminate killing of men, women, and children. During the killing unspeakable atrocities and mutilations were committed by the soldiers. Accounts from two white men, John S. Smith and Lieutenant James Connor, described the acts of dehumanization.”

According to John S. Smith, Colonel Chivington knew these Indians to be peaceful before the massacre. Smith witnessed, as did helpless Indian mothers and fathers, young children having their sex organs cut away. U.S. soldiers mutilated Native American women, cutting away their breasts and removing all other sex organs. After the Massacre, soldiers displayed the women’s severed body parts on their hats and stretched them over their saddle-bows while riding in the ranks. The sex organs of every male were removed in the most grotesque manner. One soldier boasted that he would make a tobacco pouch with the removed privates of White Antelope, a respected elder. Conner witnessed a soldier displaying the body parts of a woman on a stick. The fingers of Indians were cut off to get at the rings on them. Connor remembered a baby only a few months old who had been hidden in the feed box of a wagon for protection. When the soldiers discovered the baby some time later, the baby was thrown onto the frozen ground to die. In going over the site the next day, it was noted that every corpse was mutilated in some way, and scalped.
